Nothing will make you feel quite as dumb as showing your adolescent kids ..

. . . the temple handshakes. Last night my wife and our 4 kids were all talking when I jokingly grabbed my wife's hand in the patriarchal grip. I said to my 12 and 11 year old, "hey, wanna see the secret handshakes we did in the temple?" They actually seemed really interested and we showed them. We explained that doing those handshakes with God and giving him the secret passwords (which we also told them) is what Mormon's believe you will have to do to enter heaven. They looked at each other and started laughing! My daughter said, "its just like a club". Yep.

My wife and I remarked to each other how stupid that made us feel as we used to believe that crap.

Isn't it amazing how it all looks in hindsight. And the "new names" are even worse for me.

"Hey, how would you like to be really generic? Cuz, Heavenly Father is sick of trying to remember so many names."
