FYI, it's a bit late but we finally finished a draft response to the last essay on Joseph Smith's polygamy:

It was a lot more interesting to read this than watching that bizarre youtube video earlier today about the BoA!!

P.S. One sure sign of a cult is whitewashing your founder/prophet....

A thought about Fanny Alger "...unable to conceal the consequences of her celestial relation with the prophet...":

Perhaps Fanny was not pregnant, but had blood on her dress as evidence of her deflowering; if Emma was furious the she would have immediately driven Fanny from the house and not waited months to see that she was pregnant.

Nicely done. I know that TSCC is trying to inoculate members with these essays, but by being less than forthcoming, it's still going to turn around and bite them in the ass.

Well written. Rich with facts, and the logic is impeccable.

Great job!

Well written response. Polygamy was so wrong...

Here are some graphs that help to shed some light:

One point. Helen Mar Kimball's phrase that it was "for eternity
alone" makes more sense (in context) if you read it as the
REASON she was agreeing to it was for the rewards that were
promised in eternity. She was doing it for the sake of
eternity, alone, and not doing it for the stuff that it would
entail in this life.

I.e. she was promised rewards for herself and her family in
eternity, and it was for those rewards in eternity alone that
she was agreeing to the deal.
