Perhaps Fanny was not pregnant, but had blood on her dress as evidence of her deflowering; if Emma was furious the she would have immediately driven Fanny from the house and not waited months to see that she was pregnant.
Nicely done. I know that TSCC is trying to inoculate members with these essays, but by being less than forthcoming, it's still going to turn around and bite them in the ass.
One point. Helen Mar Kimball's phrase that it was "for eternity alone" makes more sense (in context) if you read it as the REASON she was agreeing to it was for the rewards that were promised in eternity. She was doing it for the sake of eternity, alone, and not doing it for the stuff that it would entail in this life.
I.e. she was promised rewards for herself and her family in eternity, and it was for those rewards in eternity alone that she was agreeing to the deal.
