Not unusual, if he wants to keep his scholarship he plays. Especially in the National Championship game.

Happens all the time in many pursuits. Jobs and assignments and choices keep us away from childrens births, parties and such.

You may not like it but reality is that if you want the benefits you do the job even if it means you miss the birth.
