My s.o. does not have health ins. He has back problems but was denied disability. He is not working. He doesn't qualify for medicaid because he has some savings which he is living on. I am on medicare. He's younger than I am.

He seems to be in the classic catch-22.

If any of you know of any kind of plan he could possibly get that isn't $800/month, could you please point me to it? It is very frustrating.

I lost a job about 18 months ago, (mid 30's) so I found myself in his situation unhappily in the most red republican state of America where helping the poor and being democrat is "unconstitutional" and a "sin". Can you guess where???
Let's hope Gov Hurbert can beat off the good old boys and lend a hand to us working stiffs this legislative session.

That being said I had to get insurance with "Coventry" the Utah based Marketplace aka Obama care. My payment was $80 a month. The deductible was high so I had to get supplemental insurance with arches which ran about $25 a month. But to get this good rate I had to falsify information saying that I had higher income than I really did. Because the rep. didn't want to help the poor in 2014. If your in "Mormon" Utah the laws are being debated this legislative season so I don't know what loop holes there will be this year. Obama care is a legal nightmare, My sympathy.

My son, dex and I got marketplace in Utah with selectmed, which has worked very well. WE pay 300 a month, and there is a deductive but I dont'know if it is 500 or 750. But there is just a copay for office visits and specialist, of 15 or 25 and this is not after deductible but before.

Also, if you are a Costco member you can get a slight discount on insurance too.
