From the article (and dodo himself), ""Accommodating the rights of all people - including their religious rights - requires wisdom and judgment, compassion and fairness," Holland said. "Politically, it certainly requires dedication to the highest level of statesmanship. Nothing is achieved if either side resorts to bullying, political point scoring or accusations of bigotry."

What burns me with this politically timed announcement and the (likely) change of course from the supreme court this summer, is that it remains OK for these chums to stand at their pulpit as Pecker did not too long ago and verbally assalt the gay life and condemn it as not of god, yet, they do not desire the same fingerpointing at them for their own myopia, bigotry and discrimination. What arrogant pricks.

Who knows? It's possible.

I guess Monson got inspiration from God. He is only allowed to know what to do when the proper timing of The Lord happens.

So Oaks cites examples of private institutions taking private actions and somehow equates that with a limitation on democracy? Dude..private persons or groups acting independently to make decisions IS democracy. The ONLY example with merit was the mayor...who was proven to be a dunce when the subpoena was thrown out.

But, in the meantime...the church can "subpoena" persons, digital communications, and documents to make decisions regarding membership. How is that different than the Olympic committee? or the Mozilla company? I think Oaks is losing his legal ability the more he spends time in the COB.

This was a waste of time. It doesn't actually DO anything. Leaders were already on record saying they supported equal pay and didn't support discrimination.
