He looks frail but comfortable. I find it interesting that in the declining years of his life, he is talking increasingly about kindness. Maybe he is finally "getting it."

Well, his *spokesperson* is talking about kindness.
Who knows if he actually said any of that...?

at least Monson could pretend to endorse kindness at various times

With Gordon Hinckley, this is the kind of stuff that could be expected at every turn

So he's half as old as the church.

Wow, Bradley. I never thought of that. You're right--1830+90=1920. 1920+90=2010.

Using this logic...I'm...old....enough to be confused!

Well I can thank the Mormon church for ripping my family apart.

While President Monson basks surrounded by his, in his 24,000 square foot condo in downtown Salt Lake City. He's a modern day Brigham Young, minus all the wives.

He looks like he is ripe for burial, no makeup necessary. I am not trying to be mean but he looks like he should be in a coffin. Maybe it is the color of the forehead.

"Frail and in failing health..."

That's what the Tribune says. How will Deseret News spin it?

I helped take care of both my parents in their declining years and I know that face.

Deseret News: The Lord's prophet continues to lead the faithful.

How's that for ya?

Options: ReplyQuote

Now that *is* spin.

He isn't leading anything. He's barely breathing.

If the church was really honest, it would call it like it is. And that is he is merely a figurehead. Easily replaced by the next one. And the next one, ad infinitum.

They're all old and on their way out by the time they become the next profiteers, with their delusions of grandeur.

You asked. Here is the way it should have been written up:

The Lower Head Lord MORmON Jesus' PRofit continues to lead faithFOOL MORmONS

Well, I hope it was understood that I meant my headline as completely tongue-in-cheek.

Certainly it's the only headline the Deseret News could present.

I figured as much.

Leave it to Deseret to make its own spin on Monson's end-of-life condition.

If he's leading the church, it is tantamount to the blind leading the blind.

The church operates on a "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.

I guess not yet.

24,000 Sq. foot condo ? I know he lives in church paid-for housing...but a 24,000 sq. foot condo ? Is that true ?

Somebody else shared that on here, and said it was 'vetted.' It sounded excessive to me, but who am I to say?

It would make sense he has a condo close to Temple Square, for ease of travel.

According to Google, his supposed home address is in Holladay. When I put that in a search, the address says it's a 5 bd, 2 bath house of 1230 sq. ft. I doubt very much you can fit 5 bd & 2 baths into a 1230 sq ft house, so I'm guessing it is only counting one floor, and not the basement.

Or they've added on over the years. The house in Holladay was built in 1957.

If you times the 1230 sq ft by 2, it would be app 2400 sq ft. Now that would seem more realistic to me than 24,000. I gasped when I read that the first time.

Maybe it's a church owned condo downtown SLC, for current presidents, or not. I don't really know for sure. The church is so secretive about its real estate holdings and has zero accounting to its membership, it may be a rumor - or it may be a genuine fact.

That would be a conservative estimate. My 5-bedroom 4 1/2-bathroom house is just over 4,000 feet. My sister has a four-bedroom (very small bedrooms except for the master suite) three-bathroom home with a great room instead of separate living and family rooms, and her square footage is almost 2,800. The bedrooms would almost have to be closets to get five of them in a 2,400 square-foot home. It's also unusual not to have at least a third bathroom with five bedrooms.

I grew up in that neighborhood...for some reason the houses count only the main floor, not the basements. I am guessing this is because the basements were all unfinished when the houses originally sold. The houses all were around 2000-2200 sq feet when counting both floors.

So he *does* have two homes. It is vetted. The one in Holladay, *and* the condo downtown SLC.

"Since his calling to be Church President, Thomas Monson primarily lives in a suite in this apartment building which is owned by the LDS Church. It is located across the street from the Church Office Building so it makes for an easy commute. He still owns and still spends time at his home pictured above."

The condo, if as large as it was previously reported here, sounds like at least a couple of floors in the entire building, perhaps penthouse level - and most likely luxurious, given the propensity of the temples interior design.

To make a comparison, Donald Trump's New York City penthouse apartment is roughly 11,000 square feet.

Harem. The suite is for his personal residence.

Any staffers in there would be assistants, nursemaids, housemaids & cooks, etc. He likely has a live-in nurse for round the clock care. You know someone that important and endowed with the highest church calling - well they inherit more than a title.

Apparently it transfers to whoever occupies the presidency. He lives like a king, in his palatial residence.
