In other news, Mormon archeologists are still searching for the fabled lost city of Zarahemla...

Fascinating. I love these finds. Roman stuff all over Britain. Funny how it lasted and just keeps surfacing.

However, "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence," you know. :)

This absence/evidence thing may however indicate absence of integrity in the case of Mormons and evidence of gullibility as well.

I love that dog!

What fascinates me is that it's a portrait of an individual dog rather than what we might expect (just look at the expression around the mouth and eyes). We might have expected something a little more collective, abstract and symbolic, an expectation evident in the archeologists' guesses that the dog was attached to a temple for healing.

Thank you for the link.

The expression is so cute like a happy dog greeting its human. But then I was thinking it looked like the other pup of the She-wolf, who suckled Romulus and Remus, hoping to get some milk when they were done.

Obviously the 4th century Romans did not enjoy the benefit of 6th century MIB (Mormons In Black) clean up teams.

What a sweet depiction of what was likely someone's beloved pet.
