Had a Stake Pres tell us once in a leadership meeting that protocol dictated that everyone stand when he enters the room. He was cheesed that nobody stood for him when he entered. I had never heard that before. I know people stand when the profit enters, but the steak pres? Is this a church wide thing or was this guy just an asshat?

He was an asshat.

That is the cue for everyone to stand and point at him:

"The emperor has no clothes!"

What a serious self important tool. Talk about illusions of grandeur... Did he require you use his middle initial when announcing him, and on all company stationary/correspondence?

(A nod to Bill Murray in The Life Aquatic) :)

He might as well not stop at that. He could get the boy scouts to bugle a rousing tribute and wave flags. Then while everyone is standing, a RS lady could teach the finer points of bowing and doing a classy courtesy. That's perfect for Mormons because the women all wear skirts they can swish as they dip toward the floor.

Hilarious, Cheryl! :)

If the local high-school is LDS, bring in the flag twirlers and seminary-to do the crowd wave and righteous flash mob dance...

He deserves a mob, and tar, feathers...

He is not the president/monarch, nor is he their military superior. I certainly hope he is not a masonic superior and they are all freemasons in his lodge?

The only other reason for all the men to stand when someone enters a room is if they have travelled back in time 150 years and a woman walks in.

Unless, of course, the priesthood think they are something special today, which they apparently do.

And don't forget to button your jacket when doing so.

I was taken aback by what he was saying but we all just sat there with no idea if it were true or not. So we committed to stand up for him next time. It was a few years ago back in my TBM days. I had always wondered if it was a church wide thing. I don't miss being TBM, but I still play one on Sundays.

Maybe someone could play 'Hail to the Chief' on a harmonica when he enters.

He was an a-hole.

In MoreDumb you only stand for the prophet... you're not supposed to even stand for Apostles.

With respect to this:

Fear you can teach me!

Respect you must earn!

If you have earned my respect I MAY stand when you enter!!!

I never was much for protocol...so I'd be an anarchist in that room.

Wow, that is really sick. I think it is gross that everyone stands for the Queen but to stand for someone who is an appointed church official really explains a lot about the arrogance they seem to have.

He was prolly bullied as a kid.

Nowadays, he couldn't get laid in a whorehouse.

Just another example of what's wrong with Mormonism. What a jerk. Personally, I would be more likely to piss on him.

Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase 'void where prohibited.'

When I was a student at Ricks, Ezra Taft Benson came to speak at devotional. He wasn't the president of the church at that time.
As he walked across the stage to the podium in the Kirham Building, the students started standing up. He turned, and said to the audience, "sit-down, standing up is only for the prophet."

I'd like to buy your former stake president for what he's worth, and sell him for what he thinks he's worth!!!

MORmONS always get things wrong.

The MORmON leader should be knocked down when he comes into the room, as opposed to every one else rising.
