The first missionaries will be called, during GC, to China.

Cruel!

But accurate. China has no incentive at all to make nice with the US. Quite the opposite.

to have the PRC choose their own bishops, and TSCC isn't nearly as wealthy as the Vatican, so yeah. TSCC doesn't have a chance.

You should read the Crazy Rich Asian books. They are quite enlightening about what is going on over there these days. And they are funny as all hell!

No way, no how, are mormon missionaries going into China. I still can't believe they are Tibet!

I don't think leadership can announce anything over the pulpit that smacks of real change. I predict that rather than dotting "i" with a dot, they are going to start using a little red heart.

That or change the name of the church.

They haven't done that in about two weeks.

The field is white already to harvest. I’m sure there are millions of our Chinese brothers and sisters on their knees right now praying for true messengers, even the army of God, to come declare the truth to them.

Aha!!!

I bet that in China, if you say "mormon", people giggle and look at your groinal area!

Thus...

I’ve heard that “Mormon” in Cantonese means something like “devils.” Supposedly, the missionaries in Hong Kong never say Mormon.

Ergo:

China — Mormon = devils
English-speaking world — Mormon = Wankers

Many different Chinese characters have identical or very similar pronunciations, often inadvertently leading to humorous, ironic and embarrassing results.

Churchco eventually realized that they had pulled a boner (note to mod, this is a legitimate idiom meaning "made a blunder") with their original translation into Chinese, due to the fact that the pronunciation of the characters they used could sound the same as the pronunciation for characters meaning "evil door."

Random mistake or the handiwork of Loki? You decide.

Interesting article on this can be found here:

http://lifeafter.org/significant-book-mormon-changes-chinese-word-mormon-lamanite-ancestry/

"In order to avoid negative connotations, new Chinese-language editions of the Book of Mormon now use characters that are roughly pronounced as “Moermen” instead of ones more typically pronounced “Momen.” According to a BYU NewsNet story, the pronunciation of the original characters sounded similar to an expression that means “evil door.” The change, which has been in the works for more than two years, was officially announced in September when the Church made available a new triple combination in Traditional Chinese.”

Another one that is funny is that throughout East Asia, the Chinese characters used for the name of the Church in Japan, Korea and Chinese speaking countries actually meant Church of Jesus Christ of the "LAST DAYS" instead of "Latter days." After several decades of using that name, they decided to change the name in some countries to mean latter days. Not a huge difference at first glance, but one emphasizes an imminent winding up and end, while the latter is more ambiguous as to how late things are.

Now there appears to be a mismatch among the East Asian countries. IIRC, Japan still uses the "Last Days" characters.

It just looks very uninspired. lol. All of the combined wisdom, inspiration, discernment, gifts of translation, revelation and everything of 5 or 6 prophets and dozens of apostles, many of whom made frequent trips to East Asia...and in all of that time they never realized that the name was wrong? Of course ordinary people noticed it, but just assumed that the "General Authority" guys were originally inspired to use the "Last Days" for the Churchco brand in East Asia. Guess not. ;o)

I was trying to work the Lady of the Lake and King Arthur into it, but I don't have the chops.

had been converted by the Lady of the Lake into a magically enhanced sword similar to Excalibur, but that would have been even better than Excalibur. She intended to give it to Marvin of Middlesex, who was originally intended to carry out the role that ultimately was instead carried out by Arthur.

Shortly after dedicating "Exmarvibur" (the name of that magically enhanced sword), she learned that Merlin had cast an irrevocable spell upon Marvin's ancestors, guaranteeing that Marvin would be born as an imbecile.

Accordingly, Lady of the Lake (a.k.a. Morgan La Fey incognito) reversed her spell on Exmarvibur and it reverted to its original state, i.e. a low-quality Nephite sword prone to rusting.

I was going to relate this publicly, but a message appeared in the Stone of Gomer telling me that this current generation is not ready for these truths.

;o)

He got Francis to bend the knee: China will present Xi with candidates for high clerical office (bishops and cardinals), and Francis gets to choose from this pool. This resembles the French Concordat of 1801, when Napoleon returned lands confiscated during the French Revolution, but got to control the candidate pool of bishops and cardinals.

Makes you wonder, what would the MORMON church do to get missionaries into China? And didn't John Huntsman do his mission in China? (Or was that under Chiang Kaishek.)

So if true, then will the church be the big hit in China as much as it is in Japan?

Why would a big country used to drinking their customary teas be thrilled to give it up for Mr. Clean?

My predictions at GC this year:

1 -We now need a 2 year supply of food stored in our basements

2 - We also all need guns and know how to use them

3 - Water storage is also important

4 - The Church will create a new World-wide relief fund that needs your money.

5 - The missions will be shortened to 18 months.

That's my prediction anyway.

I'd combine two of them:

"The mission will be shortened to 18 months and you need to know how to use a gun."

There you are. It’s a cold, gray day and I’m lounging with fuzzy blankie, sort of somewhat listening to some incredibly dumb shows on the main Mormon TV station. No one knows why.
