It's the natural thing for a corporation to do these days... go paperless.

I've been wondering for years why they haven't gone this route. Unfortunately, I was one of those that was eager to pay tithing first and felt bad for missing a week. I would have loved having an online system.

Now I just feel sad for my family members who are faithfully forking over their money, without a second thought.

Yeah I saw this posted on FB and all of the TBM's I knew were SO excited and just gushing about it.... extremely overzealous... I was sad they were so happy to just hand over so much money. Especially since I know a lot of them are struggling financially.

A big part of the tithing thing is giving the money to the bishopric in front of as many witnesses as possible. You will probably still need to get permission or give the bishop a copy of your payment.

"LDS.org now accepting credit cards, bit coins and paypal!"

Sure, this is not a corporation and its not about the money.

Who pays the credit card fees?

You need routing and account numbers. Doesn't look like credit or debit cards are being accepted. If they do get accepted, expect tithing to become 12.5% of your increase ;)

Like Gordon Hinckley said as his claws grabbed a jar of pennies from a Mormon boy, "all donations are welcome!"

I've heard the same line from many other panhandlers.

Um.
Yes, this is happening.
You can also pay by transferring your stocks directly to the "Corporation of the President." Convenient, huh?
DH wanted to pay a year in advance via this new, modern method.
*cough, gasp, choke,*

My parish just started online giving. There is an anonymous box to check if you wish.

You can use credit cards or checking account.

I've told the story before. My former friend, a TBM, put four thousand dollars on a credit card to pay back-tithing so she could attend her daughter's temple wedding which she also paid for.

Fuck these churches and their obsessive need to beg parishioners for their money.
