Hint, it's all those long-haired hippie freaks from the sixties, but Gen Z is going to return to that Old Time Religion (Mo Edition), and save the day.

::snort:: Right. Gen Z is already eyeing the exits.

World War Z or something along those lines.

But seriously, this guy is today's second winner of the Aerosmith
"Dream On" prize for completely deluded and groundless optimism.

If he wants to collect his prize, he can contact me and I will personally visit his home or office (his choice) and scream the following lyrics into his left ear:

Dream on!!!!!!!!
Dream on!!
Dream on!
Dream until your dreams come true
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream until your dreams come true
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on
Dream on!
Dream on!
Dream on!!
Dream on!!!!!!!!!

(Interesting fun fact: Did you know that the above lyrics contain a fully-formed chiasmus? Amazing, don't you think?)

=======
Now, back to reality, chances are that the LSD Church will be one of the top priorities FOR REJECTION by the Gen Z people he is so counting on. The best of Gen Z hates phonies. One of the most phony organizations around is the LSD Church and it's phony because it has always been led by phonies.

Or Supertramp:

Dreamer, you know you are a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said "far out, what a day, a year, a life it is!"
You know, well you know, you had it comin' to you
Now, there's not a lot I can do
Dreamer, you stupid little dreamer

So now you put your head in your hands, oh no
I said, "far out, what a day, a year, a life it is!"
You know, well you know, you had it comin' to you
Now, there's not a lot I can do
Work it out someday

Oh ma, ma, ma, ma, ma, ma, ma, ma
you can see anything you want, boy
(If I could be someone) you can be anyone, celebrate, boy
you can do something
(If I could do anything) but can you do something out of this world?
Take a dream on a sunday
Take a life, take a holiday
Take a lie, take a dreamer
Dream, dream, dream, dream, dream, dream, dream, dream along
Dreamer, dream and dream along
C'mon and dream, dream along (come along)
(C'mon and dream, dream along)

na na na na na na na na
Dreamer, you know you are a dreamer (c'mon and dream and dream along)
Can you put your hands in your head, oh no! (c'mon and dream and dream along)
I said dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer (c'mon and dream and dream along)
Can you put your hands in your head, oh no! (oh, come on, oh, come on)
Oh no

I think he is trying to send a message to Mo Gen Z in an effort to keep them from leaving: hey, look, everyone, Gen Z is riding in to Save the Day!! Isn't that the bees knees?! All the cool kids are doing it. You want to be cool, don't you?

Basically a retread of Saturday's Warrior. Reid has a history of op-eds of this general tone - world going to hell in a handbaskst, and only religion can save us, and it is saving us.

Praise the Lard, even Elder Jesus H. Christ, who will not allow to happen what is obviously happening.

Dream on, indeed

Gen Z ? Is that before or after the millenials ?

I had to look it up too. :). After Millennials. Born 1995 to 2005, roughly (there is no formal def of the age range) - the kids at or near missionary age.

I bet church leaders are scared, um, spitless, that Gen Z will both stop going on missions and leave early if they do go on missions.

"Undeniably, the ubiquitous baby boomer generation defiantly reordered American society..."

It's funny how those who blame us boomers for everything never blame the generation that raised us that way.

I surely do.

The Greatest Generation came back from the war, focused on families and things, and then as they entered their 60s voted themselves massive amounts of wealth. They were entitled, you see, since they were "the greatest."

I don't believe the boomers did much better, but the bankrupting of the country began with the previous generation. What Tom Brokaw knew when he published his book entitled The Greatest Generation was that those were the people with the biggest bank accounts and the most pronounced desire to put a book about themselves on the coffee table.

The Baby Boomers didn't take control until the 1990s and 2000s, and by that point a lot of damage had been done, bad precedents been set.

Late 50's we heard it was the Beatnicks and Elvis Presley with his obscene hip gyrations.
Then it was the Beatles and the Hippies.

Now it is Prez Nelson and his midnight Wet Dreams he mistakes for revelations.

The church always puts a huge focus on the teens of every generation. We were told we were the "chosen" generation 40 years ago. Same bullshit. Now the new kids are the "chosen" generation and there is going to be pressure to go on a mission and not to put off marriage and to marry in the temple. Same shit. The more things change the more they remain the same.

The internet didn't exist during my teenage years so there was no open communication over how people felt or about some church truths. That has a huge effect.
