I think it should be...

We believe that Mormons should follow unquestioningly everything that one of the q15 says. The thinking has been done for you. Even if a later q15 contradicts or changes what an earlier q15, bible prophet or Jesus has said.

You will be blessed for your blind obedience.

There should be a fourteenth. Mormons are a superstitious lot, and thirteen is a favorite number for the superstitious to fear. And Mormons are also a fearful lot. They really need a fourteenth article. I wish I could help them, but I don't want to.

Years ago (decades ago, really), I checked out some books from the library, including a book about Mormons as I was interested in the Deseret Alphabet. I wish I could remember its name. I didn't read it cover to cover but do recall having read a few incidents during Joe Smith's time.

Apparently, there WERE originally 14 Articles of Faith. The one that was dropped was about the universal resurrection and that Mormons were to be resurrected "in the morning" of the first resurrection.

Oh, yeah. Mormons are sooooo spay-shell. (Sarcasm alert)

The Frontier Guardian
February 20, 1850
Articles of faith
1. We believe in God the Eternal Father and in his son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost
2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins and not for Adam’s transgression.
3. We believe that through the atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances to the gospel.
4. We believe that these ordinances are:
1. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
2. Repentance
3. Baptism by emersion for the remission of sin.
4. Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5. The Lords Supper.
5. We believe that man must be called of God by inspiration and by laying on of hands by those who are duly commissioned to preach the gospel and administer the ordinances thereof.
6. We believe in the same organization that existed on the primitive church, viz: Apostles. Prophets. Pastors. Teachers, evangelists, etc.
7. We believe in the powers and gifts of the everlasting gospel viz: the gift of faith, discerning of spirits, prophesy, revelation, visions, healing, tongues, and the interpretation of tongues, wisdom, charity, brotherly love etc
8. We believe the word of God as recorded in the Bible, we also believe the word of God recorded in the book of Mormon and in all other good books.
9. We believe all that God has revealed all that he does now reveal, and we believe that he will reveal many great and important things pertaining to the kingdom of God and Messiahs second coming
10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and the restoration of the then tribes; that Zion will be established on the western continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth a thousand years; and that the earth will be renewed and receive it’s paradisiacal glory
11. We believe in the literal resurrection of the body, and that the rest of the dead live not again until the thousand years are expired.
12. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictated of our conscience unmolested, and allow all men the same privilege. Let them worship how or where they may.
13. We believe in being subject to kings, queens, presidents, rulers, and magistrates; in obeying, honoring and sustaining the law.
14. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, temperate, benevolent, virtuous, and upright and in doing good to all men; Indeed we may say we follow the admonition of Paul. We “believe all things”, we “hope all things”, we “have endured many things, we hope to be able to “endure all things. Everything virtuous, lovely, praiseworthy, and of good report we seek after; looking forward to the recompenses of reward.

We believe whatever we are told by other members of the church, no matter how bizarre or undoctrinal, and that the Brethren secretly endorse all claims made by MLM practitioners, naturopaths, oils, and conspiracy nuts, and that Amway was the pathway to the Celestial Kingdom.

14. We believe in whatever the current President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Inc. (DBA "the prophet") said last. What previous prophets have said should be judged in light of what the current prophet's most recent pronouncement on a subject. We believe it may seem as though our prophets contradict one another, or even themselves, but that's just because you are unworthy and can't understand God's mysterious will--sinner!

We believe the prophet is speaking as a prophet, unless he is speaking as a man, or a pervert (Joseph Smith...)

Or... We believe in faith promoting church history, not the flecking flecks of history that keep biting us in the garment region.

Or... We believe in the lovingness of church courts for those who have the audacity to speak the truth out loud, or blog, or Facebook it. Excommunication is like a loving, tight squeezed hug from boa constrictor Jesus.

I'm sure there's another witty statement by Paul in the New Testament we can just attribute to Joseph Smith.

#14 Do whatever TF you want as long as the laws of the land where you live are not broken (maybe bent a little, though). Pretty much my life plan for the last 50 years.
