I am 19 months sober now!

It would sound better if I'd ever been a real drinker, but I did get tipsy three times, so it hasn't been a total loss!

My daughter has promised to take me out for a light meal WITH a Margarita the evening before my surgery.

NPO after midnite, ya know!! (It will be a late afternoon/early evening meal, to be on the safe side.)

We tried a different brand of Gin. Brew Dog's Lone Wolf Scottish Gin.

Absolutely awesome, made with mace, pink pepper, kaffir leaves, grapefruit peel, lemon peel, orris, almond, lemongrass and pine needles, juniper and coriander seeds.

Water, orange juice, grape juice, apple juice.

I don't get along well with the hard stuff. Once, at a party, I was sitting in a chair when one of the young men came over and gave me an orange-vodka mix. It tasted good, and every-time my glass got half-way empty, he would come over and refill it.

Well, all went OK until my friend asked me to go to the bathroom with her and I stood up to do so, at which time all that I had imbibed rose to my head in a rush, and I bumped into a chair along the way.

I don't like to lose control of myself, and my girlfriend was stuck with giggling instead of being able to talk, so I took us both into the kitchen to chomp on a piece of bread (up to then we had nothing else in our tummies).

How's that for a new venture?

PS: Another young man was showing us some card tricks that they use in Los Vegas (where his father worked). One day, I did use a couple of these to puzzle and amaze my grandchildren

PSS: Remember when the church taught its members that playing card games was evil?

When I took my first drink, my boyfriend served me brandy. He said he was testing me to see if I'd be a lush if I liked brandy. No, I didn't. I told him, just tastes like NyQuil. At that time, I was getting strep every few months and I was drinking cough syrup all the time.

So that is what I've been drinking for 4 weeks now.

I enjoyed a few cans of Guinness.

Lately I've been smoking a block of ice with different types of wood in my pellet smoker.

I freeze a couple bottles of water in a loaf pan, then smoke it so it melts and drips into a glass backing dish. Pour the smoked water back in the bottles and refrigerate for several weeks to let the flavor mellow and the color bloom into a nice shade of amber.

Pour that into an ice tray, feeze, and add to your favorite whiskey.

This weekend I tried some smoked with Maple (with Jefferson's bourbon) and it was very good. Hickory and apple were good too, but so far the pest was pecan wood. My mouth tasted like I had been eating turtles (the pecan caramel candy) when I finished each sip.

Mozart Chocolate Cream Pumpkin Spice liqueur. It's so yummy. I was addicted to Godiva Chocolate, until I tried that one.
I love Pumpkin beer, so thought I'd try that, best decision of my life.

Let's see...

I went local

I was drinking Dick's IPA on Saturday and probably Sunday. Yesterday I was drinking 14 Hands Reisling that I had bought for cooking asparagus risotto. Tastes like apples. I will NEVER make stovetop risotto again unless I'm self-flagellating.

Cook that mess in an Insta Pot. I'm telling you. I am a convert to the church of pressure cookers that don't blow up the house.

So, I finished off the wine yesterday (today?), and it's almost time for skis w/Judge, Tom, PJ, Bernie, Squi.
