And it made me feel oh so good!

The person realized I had lived in Utah after I had really charmed him and his family. Then they asked "are you LDS?"

Me: "Not anymore, I left a long time ago"

Them: Sad faces :(

Me: Smiling :) "I'm non-denominational now"

It was the first time I told a complete mormon stranger I wasn't mormon and the feeling was so weird. Awkward, but liberating.

I find that I am much more open about my ex-mo status than I ever was as a TBM. I don't mind acknowledging and informing others about the fraud, if it comes up in conversation.

I always felt a little sheepish admitting I was a Mormon. I've discovered that being an ex-Mormon makes me colorful and interesting! It's funny, Mormons are always trying to share their beliefs, and people can't get away from them fast enough. As an ex-Mormon, people are fascinated to hear about Mormon beliefs. It's fascinating how people are repelled when someone is trying to convert them, but like to hear all the dirty secrets.
