Who is Rasband??

Ronald Rasband. He's in the 70, if I remember correctly. He came to my mission in Northern Europe several times in the early 2000s. Seemed ok. Had dinner with him one time.

My guess is that he'll be white, and from Utah.

He'll be white, 60+ yrs old, from Mormon corridor, somehow related to one of the current 12.

That is God's pattern -- old white men (preferably from UT or ID) need to be in charge.

And he'll be wealthy

But he'd have to be in the 1st quorum of the 70.

It will be a white one as per the usual simply because there will be at least 2 more very soon. If they got some young whipper snapper in there, he could very well become prez. Can't have any dangerous minorities yet.

No, They will fill these next 3 with nice, clean, white 'n delightsome, straight, HEAVILY VETTED men. Then, when they have to fill that last 4th one, they MIGHT go out on a limb and put in a priesthood holder of color. And he will already be well into his 70's. Think 78 with a birthday next month kind of thing. They'll make sure he doesn't' have a CHANCE to become prez.

MIGHT.

What happens if Monson dies before a replacement is named?

My guess: L. Whitney Clayton or Kim Clark.

If Hinckley were still in charge, I might guess a minority, since he was more concerned about the public image of the church.

Monson (or whoever is running the show) leans towards ultra conservative white men.

I was going to post L Whitney Clayton. He has (allegedly) been the hatchet man going around telling Stake Presidents to ex people including Kate Kelly, John Dehlin, and next week Rock Waterman.

Gifford Nielsen is in the first quorum of the seventy. I didn't know that until I looked at the list. He might give them some appeal to the youth that like sports. Hard to believe he is 60 years old.

Gifford Nielsen was in attendance at my endowment session when I first went thru the temple in May 2002 (Houston). Don't know why I remember that. Guess as a 19 year old kid (that had been at BYU before leaving for a mission) I thought that was pretty exciting. He could definitely have some appeal to younger TBMs that are into sports.
