:(

Leukemia. It was sudden; diagnosed in May.

He was a fine musician.

Set your heart sail on the river
Look around you as you drift downstream
Pouring souls into the ocean
Take account of all you've seen

Hearing
Talking
Love you

Hearts
In and out of time

As we flow down life's rivers
I see the stars glow - One by one
All angels of the magic constellation
Be singing us now

RIP Chris. You helped write some good tunes.

Sad. I got to see Yes twice over the years. Once in Phoenix and another time in SLC. Squire's bass playing was a counter to the unique singing voice of (Jon) Anderson. Unique band with some special personnel over the years.

And the band helped to put Roger Dean on the map of album cover artists. RIP Chris Squire.

Enjoyed YES and their music. Always sad to see another rock and roller pass...and troubling they are often younger than me.

Crap... I love Yes. Roundabout, Owner of a Lonely Heart, Long Distance Runaround, are 3 of my favorite songs ... :(

I've seen them twice in concert on two continents. I have the Close To The Edge lp on vinyl and Yessongs on double CD. In fact, the first rock concert I ever saw was Rick Wakeman in 1975. Goodnight, sweet Squire.

Chris was the only member to appear on every single Yes album. He was there since the bands inception in ‘68. This summer, when he had to drop out of the current tour, was the only time Yes ever performed without him in 47 years.

Even if they weren’t one of your favorite acts, they were an epic part of rock and roll history. They were musician’s musicians, and influenced many other players in the industry.

Here’s another one of their hits he helped co-write.

(Been listening to some YES tunes all day in my own little tribute to his memory.)

You know, I never noticed until today the reference in the above linked song to the John Lennon song ‘Instant Karma’ (‘Send an instant karma to me’). Realize that YES drummer Alan White drummed on the recording of Lennon’s ‘Instant Karma’, as well as drumming on another Lennon classic: ‘Imagine.’

Also, in the above linked song, when they sing the second ‘Diddit diddit diddit’ part, very subtly in the background they are singing Lennon’s lyrics:

‘All we are saying’
‘Is give peace a chance’
‘All we are saying’
‘Is give peace a chance’

I just never in all these years ever figured that out before.

Also, this wasn’t a rip off; it was a tribute. I had heard before that Lennon often hung out backstage at YES concerts. Apparently he liked hanging out with those boys.

Anyway, I’m on a YES tangent tonight I guess.

I saw them twice also.
Once when they were recording their Yessongs live album.
What an incredible concert.
He will be missed.

Bummer! I love Yes. Saw them a coupel times in the 70's and 80's. Just bought the DVD of their 1972 concert "Yessongs" and watched a little of it the other day. I've been working on a ukulele version of "I've seen all good people / Your move" and its coming along nicely.

Sad to hear of his passing.
