10:43--

"...for condemning my friend Stephen Friar [sp?], for his nature. For saying you couldn't be a member of our church- you were born in sin. ... He is not being condemned for what he does, he's being condemned for what he is. You're a child made in the image of God. 'Oh no you're not! You're a @#$%&. And you can't join our church and you can't go to heaven.'

"This is disgraceful. It's inhuman. It's obscene. And it comes from a clutch of hysterical sinister virgins who've already betrayed their charge in the children of their own church!"

Wish every Mormon had to confront a Christopher Hitchens every week or two :)

I admire Hitchens. What a man. I have to say that as a heterosexual male, I am slightly attracted to him even with him losing his hair because of cancer. His debates are incredible, he makes his points all too well. Who would have known that Mother Teresa wasn't so saintly?

I enjoyed it very much. I am a *huge* fan of the Hitch.

He was referring, by the way, to the also wonderfully eloquent Stephen Fry.

I've watched many of Hitchens' debates but don't recall having seen the one from which my original post quoted. I'll have to find that one and watch it.

I'd love to see Hitchens debate any three-man tag team chosen from the 15 'Apostles' of the Lard Jesus "Christ!!! That Hurt" of Latter-day Suckers.

Is this the debate about "the Catholic church is a force for good in the world?" I loved that one. It was amazing how much the opinion swayed the other way when it was all over. Hitchens is awesome, but that man is always carrying a scotch in his hand. I really hope that he survives his cancer.

I haven't seen the original debate and the video in the original post is a compilation. But I am looking forward to hunting it down (you gave me a good lead) and watching it.

I also hope he survives his struggle with cancer.
