Why is it that so many people get offended by a little bit of skin these days? I was talking to a friend at work about how I wanted to give the series True Blood a try "that show is full of sex it's so gross and so ridiculous" I've gotten similar judgmental responses about watching fifty shades a grey, and orange is the new black. Really, who cares?!

It's been my experience that the ones protesting the loudest against "nudity" in public are the ones who desperately wish they had the courage to run around naked and have (gasp!) sex for purposes other than pro-creation.

They feel so much guilt about wanting to do those things, that they demand others feel just as guilty, and want to deny them such simple, normal pleasures.

My Mom always called nudity or sexual scenes in movies or tv shows "gross." Why then did I want to view them so bad? Why did I want so bad to have sex with a hot girl? I spent a lot of reflective moments viewing myself as "gross."

I've watched all but the last season of "True Blood" and most of the time the characters are wearing clothing. The only nudity is if they're having sex, showering, bathing or if the person is a werewolf or a shape shifter(typically changing back to human). They typically put on clothing ASAP. It's not like a porn movie where everybody is naked 99%.

Since it's a HBO, Showtime series, it comes with the territory. They'd probably have a cow about the Cinemax series "Strike Back" as well. But it's much more violent and lots more swearing!! The only nudity is the heroes are actually getting it from the local girls or their wife!!

I'll probably buy the last season of "True Blood" sometime in the future.I want to see how they wrap up the storylines of everyone...

Trueblood really did get ridiculous. You know a show has jumped the shark when as a fan you look forward more to who's covering the song at the end rather than the episode itself.

It is all mindset and most likely how someone was raised.

If you grew up believing that nudity was shameful or lead to something shameful you would have issues with nudity.

If you believe that nudity should ONLY be seen under very controlled circumstances...then you would have an issue with it.

If you believe that only really FIT people should be seen nude, then you have an issue with what constitutes as beautiful body image.

I think what ever is right for YOU..is right for you. If someone else has an issue with you showing a shoulder, a boob, a thigh or a buttcheek...whether its "perfect" or not..well..that is THEIR problem:)

My only advice:Wear sunscreen if you are outdoors. Skin cancer is the devil.

Nudity is a problem because it is one of the handiest control buttons out there.

Guilt tripping over nudity gives more control over the member by the cult.

Once while tracting on a hot summer day with a straight arrow mission companion, we came across a group of pretty girls in bikinis about our age, I began crying on the inside, and my companion said "Gross, I can't believe they go outside in those."

The cult is all about sex and money. Just like Joseph was.

It's about control and power and keeping the masses busy with futile stuff so that they don't have time and energy to scrutinize the important stuff.

I personally would not feel comfortable walking around nude. I'm am soon to be seventy and gravity has not been kind as the collagen has broken down. I also had gastric bypass surgery about twelve years ago and there is extra skin that is kind of gross. So clothes are good. My recommendation is to go nude in your home with those who don't mind seeing the wrinkled sagging skin and enjoy.

It's American culture. Many Europeans don't share our inhibitions.

I agree, it started with the Puritans who left Europe, and the influence is still evident today.

Nudity can be a problem because of misused s-xuality.

Being female and seeing nudity is often different than the other way around. In my experience, and those of my female friends (all living in a big city), too many males liked to expose themselves to young females. This most often took place in parks, and in dark theaters. Through instinct, we girls knew it best to keep our distance from such men.

I've also had men expose themselves from cars, where they open their car door to let you see what they want to display.

As a little girl, a shop owner near my home tried to get me into his shop (him between me and the door), so he could shown himself to me, or worse. Later, he was arrested, as he apparently did the same thing to other little girls in the neighborhood.

So, from this type of experience from childhood, on, someone showing their naked self was not a very pleasant or wholesome thing to experience.

Hence, from this female's point of view, nudity, in general, did not show itself to advantage. It was a sigh of danger.

What I like about nudity is the laundry

At age two, in a benign environment, nudity is the default option. Why our (the two year olds) views regarding nudity start to change over the next few years is a rather curious thing, isn't it? Certainly, logic and reasoning are probably not the primary motivations.

I don't have a problem with nudity.

Just penis exposure.

Everything else looks fine to me.

There's no time for that.
Maybe it should be left to 'the "eternities"'.

No, that wouldn't work either... because what you practice in this lifetime sets the table for what you eat in the next.

No joy in this lifetime?

Forget the future (happiness, freedom, pleasure, satisfaction, wisdom, peace, knowledge)!

Back in the 1980s, authorities in an Italian sea-side town way south of Naples were forced to come to grips with the problem of toplessness on their beach.

In true Calabrian fashion, they placed the following edict in the morning news:

"Nudity on any district beach is strictly prohibited except for cases where younger fanciulle may tend to exalt la forma feminina."

Solomonic wisdom.

According to a cultural anthropology class I took there are many reasons why nudity is frowned on.Protection and warmth is the most obvious. People like decoration. Human beings almost always wear something even if it doesnt cover anything.Could just be a necklace or facepaint. The idea that covering something makes it more interesting. Superstition. If your sexual parts are visible,an enemy could curse you. It generally didnt start out as shame and what parts are covered varies widely

I'm a nudist-naturist.

for 'us' it's considered beneficial for people (teens) to separate the sight of Opposite gender from sexual conduct.

Nudism can be a healthy lifestyle & attitude, it's what I enjoy most of my relaxation as.

Even though this meme is a little mean, i think it's a lovely picture: https://scontent-sjc2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/1797449_626104567494480_7302065354221050428_n.jpg?oh=f8f5cd3c6eb3708e2b2470bf9a7948f1&oe=560FC11E

One day, we'll all look similar to this. Body acceptance is a beautiful thing no matter what age, color, size, or shape.

It is a problem because of the prudish American culture. Europe is fine with nudity.

I'm living by myself right now.. My TBM wife lives in another state, a temporary arrangement due to my employment. I mentioned that I sometimes walk around my house nude. She strongly disapproves! What?? I can't even be naked by myself?? (Admittedly, the cat sees me and usually runs and hides.) I don't know why it scares her- (the cat.) I've been a perfect gentleman and have never made any advances.

Actually, if you'll study human cultures around the world, and history, you'll find that's not really the case at all.

Take just a moment and google some Italian Renaissance paintings. I'd bet real money you won't find very many of the women depicted in them "attractive as a general rule." Yet to the painters who did them, those were the hottest of the hotties. And heck, that huge variation is just in western culture, over a few hundred years...

What you say is true. But like with any generalization, it applies across a relevant domain. In this case, each society has an ideal of beauty. This doesn't contradict what I'm trying to say -- what I'm saying is that if you pick one random individual, it's more likely than not that he/she will tend toward their society's ideal of beauty.

OK, here's my random pick; does it validate your hypothesis?

Exceptions do not disprove a rule; that's why they're called exceptions.
