"Lead me, guide me, walk beside me. Help me find the way."
This is a subliminal message to instill in you that you are lost, weak, and couldn't make it on your own. It basically says you are nothing with out the church.
This is a very sad thing to do to a child, or an adult.
"Whether by mine own voice, or by the voice of my servants, it is the same." (Esp. In conjunction with:)
"For I know that the Lord give the no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they shall accomplish that with which he hath commanded them."
Another Nephi: "have ye enquired of the Lord? [followed by] the Lord make the no such things known unto us" so that now I must not have prayed:
"With real intent" if my opinion doesn't match theirs
"Imitate their model, Satan, and try to lead others to their side"
"Self Abuse" (I'm sure they can't claim origination of this little masterpiece, but they've got it to an art."
I also hate its corallory: "you chose the act, you chose the consequences." This is the favorite saying of torturers and executioners because it absolves them of responsibility for what they do. They can perpetrate a completely unjust and cruel system, but so what? The victims were on notice weren't they? It's similar to, "Don't make me have to beat you."
