And does the rock only work with that particular hat? Or would any hat do? Or do you even need a hat? Seems there are still a lot of unanswered questions!
JS had really poor taste in his holy relics. That rock he picked out was UGLY!
He should have looked around for a pretty crystal, or AT LEAST a really nice agate. But crystals look holier. And then the church should have enshrined it in an ornate box that looks sort of like a small Ark of the Covenant.
Options: He wore it out through hours of translation. His breath destroyed the fabric, and the hat had to be discarded. Someone stole it because they needed it for a spittoon. Rodents used it for a nest and it became even holier. Emma got tired of washing it and threw it out.
