I must respond! You have to mow early here in Texas are you will roast. Got to get it done and get ready for mass. Anyone want the job so I can keep a strict sabbath?
This post reminds me of a guy in was with me who once made this statement: (and I quote) "Cutting your sprinklers on your lawn on Sunday is just a sophistocated way of breaking the Sabbath day and not keeping it holy." What a dumbass!
I gotta finish mowing this evening. I was betting it would be cool, but I lost. It's 91, and this is Kentucky so it's also humid. At least it's only 1/3 acre.. But that means I don't use a riding mower.

When I was first in the church, I was counseled NOT to mow my 4 acres on Sunday. I protested (Hey, I protested all the time and when I wasn't protesting, I was questioning!). I told the priesthood holder that mowing my lawn was a special time for me because I would wire up my cd player and sing at the top of my lungs while I mowed.
He just shook his head. Yes, it gets really hot here in Florida too but you get used to it. There is nothing more fun or reverent than singing Pie Jesu while rocking on the riding mower!
Mine needs mowing, too. What's still alive in our drought, anyway. Doesn't matter -- 107F here today, and I'm not mowing anything, I'm sitting in the air conditioning. I'm sending the lawn's calls to voicemail.
