Stories like this bug me so much. Being a teenage female is hard enough, they don't need harassment for showing a little skin. I also think it sounds like the administration spends too much time coming up with stupid dress codes and enforcement of those. If dress code is so important why not just have uniforms? There you go problem solved. That way kids can get on with learning and the administration can use their extra time and energy to ensure a first class education.

This is the same justification Islam uses for full-body coverings for women -- that showing female skin is a "temptation" to the males, so women must cover up. Because it's all about not bothering the all-important men. Because a man who sees some female skin will, of course, immediately feel the spirit of the devil, and want to go on a raping spree. And of course it will be the woman's fault.
So of course, how DARE some woman show her clavicle, and distract the all-important males from their school work! Stone the witch!

If these people are all conservative, how do they watch Fox News? I love the dresses these women wear, but I can't help but think that all mormons (and evangelicals, etc.), can't watch Fox News because of those sexy shoulders displayed.
If that's exactly how she was dressed at school---with the sweater over her shirt---I don't see a thing wrong with it. As far as her "distracting" the male students: she's gorgeous, and she would "distract" all straight boys even if she was completely covered from the chin down. Showing an inch or two less upper body skin wouldn't magically diminish her physical appeal.
Funny thing is, when I was in high school in the early 1970s, the hippie movement was in full swing, and girls were wearing miniskirts, low-cut jeans, "hot pants," and halter tops to school. I don't recall any of them being sent home.
