http://www.nationaljournal.com/next-america/workforce/young-white-population-decline-20150812

The Church™ is facing a serious dilemma. New growth is non-existent. The conversion rate in the US and Europe has been declining for many years. Pretending to be non-racist and inclusive to the public while internally maintaining an inherently racist culture, racist dogma and racist scripture is unsustainable in the long run. The Brethren need to come up with a series of new "revelations" in the near future or LD$, Inc. is going to be in serious trouble by the mid twenty-first century. Real estate and other investments may sustain them financially for a while -- but not forever.

Do we know what the increase of the non-white population is in the LDS Church? I assume the white population in Utah and Idaho is increasing faster simply because white Mormons are having more children than the white population in the rest of the country.

Yeah, this is pretty much it, it's mainly down to birth rates.

White people have astronomically low birth rates almost everywhere in the world, especially in Europe and Russia. Mormons are one of the few groups of predominantly white people that have lots of children.

I think there are other smaller factors too. Lots of mormons from other parts of the world move to Utah, and most of them will be white too.

Another possible factor will be that the number of interracial children is increasing very fast all through the Western world, which decreases the white population. However, in Utah where mormons only marry other mormons, it's typically going to be mainly white children who are produced. Even though interracial marriage isn't a sin in the church anymore, the church still advises against it. Given that many mormons think their church leaders are almost infallible, they might follow this advice.

St. George is one of the fastest growing retirement communities in America, and it puts it on the fast track for being one of the fastest growing cities as a result of that.

The service industry is booming there, as is housing. And the population that's pouring in are not LDS. They are mostly white though.

The demographics for St. George are app 97% white, still. The influx is from older people pouring there to escape harsher winter climates and enjoy their retirement in a sunny enclave, not from Mormon families having babies.

My guess is that it was all those Utes and Pueblo tribes turning white on us, thanks to their observance of the Gospel of Jesus Smith.

What makes you think that Mormonism is racist? A few questions for people on this from the perspective of Mormons.

1. How credible is Joseph Smith?

"For a testimony of the restored gospel to be complete, it must include a testimony of Joseph Smith's divine mission. The truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints rests on the truthfulness of the First Vision and the other revelations the Lord gave to the Prophet Joseph. In the Doctrine and Covenants we learn, Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it"

See https://www.google.com/webhp?q=joseph+smith+site:lds.org for about 351,000 more references on him on the Church's websites.

2. What is the most correct book on Earth?

In 1841 Joseph Smith said “I told the brethren ... that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.”

3. What does the "most correct of any book on earth" say about skin color?

"And it came to pass that I beheld, after they had dwindled in unbelief they became a dark, and loathsome, and a filthy people, full of idleness and all manner of abominations."

http://classic.scriptures.lds.org/en/1_ne/12/23#23

"... as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them. And thus saith the Lord God: I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities. And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing ..."

http://classic.scriptures.lds.org/en/2_ne/5/21-23#21

"... the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion ... the Lord God set a mark upon them ... And this was done that their seed might be distinguished from the seed of their brethren, that thereby the Lord God might preserve his people, that they might not mix and believe in incorrect traditions which would prove their destruction."

http://classic.scriptures.lds.org/en/alma/3/6-19#6

"their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a pure and a delightsome people."

https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/30.6?lang=eng

See https://www.google.com/webhp?q=joseph+smith+site:lds.org#q=dark+loathsome+site:classic.scriptures.lds.org for more references on how the "most correct of any book on earth" addresses skin color matters.

Well if there is anything that all this does is increase the sales of white and delightsome popcorn to all of us who watch how Mormons try to squirm around this issue. For popcorn I definitely think that color is important as I honestly don't like it black (particularly the smell/taste from leaving it in the microwave too long). But when it comes to human skin it's laughable to think that color matters at all, except in the dermatologist's office in cases where we need medical help for skin issues.

I got a good laugh (yes it was loud laughter so I broke my covenant) when I read "incorrect traditions" in the Book of Alma today while thinking about the Book of Abraham and all of the other Mormonism traditions.
