My wife and I sent in our email resignation letter on Friday. I tried logging into lds.org today, and got an Access Denied page! I'm taking this as sign enough -- we're officially out!

I can't believe how excited this makes me! (Some strong drink may be in order.)

Time from my last time in church to full resignation: 2 months, 1 week, give or take.

Extra points for having the wife with you. That is not the norm so give her a big hug (every day) just for that.

OK, let's see, that's 2 more people added to the "now free" list.
Check.

Congratulations :)

"I tried logging into lds.org today, and got an Access Denied page!"

Interesting... I resigned a couple of years ago. I can still log on to the lds home page and see my account information. (it passive-aggressively states that "You have stated that you are not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." Which I find hilarious because they can't even just state, "You are not a member...")

Yes, you are officially out (you were the moment they received the email)... But I'm surprised you can't log in.

I can login, I just can't access my ward directory. (Still being able to log in is cool, because that means I can still access Family Search and all the notes I took at scriptures.lds.org.)

If you really want to confirm that your paperwork has been processed, go to your account setting page and check click the "Membership" button... You should see a message similar to the one that I have.

Fixed it. What they mention to say is...

"You have stated that you are not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but we still count you in the 15 million."

I sent my letter on July 27th. Had a written response from them on 28th stating it was a local matter (blah blah blah)

Still haven't heard from the local "leaders" about it.

I copied my bishop and stake president on the email. I had email from my bishop earlier today that they processed the request at the ward level quickly.

Your local Bishop has to send in paperwork requesting your name removal - I sent mine a resignation letter just like the one I sent to SLC and now I'm no longer on the Ward Directory or able to sign in. (I used my brother's login to check the Ward Directory)

Congradulations on your freedom from the cult - you won't regret it! :)

Yeah, the letter I got back said they sent a copy of my letter to the local bishop and SP.
