To honor humanity and protest the bigotry and lies that are the LDS church, I resigned today. The final straw is their (even for them) shocking arrogance and tone deafness in judgment of children of LGBT parents, but it could well have been a thousand things.

Following Richard Packham's instructions, I sent the email this morning.

I was 6th generation Mormon, with most of family and friends still TBMs. But, let everyone judge away, I'm free!
I had considered doing it for a long time, but always put it off. Some of my children have resigned, and they are the brave ones. The time is right for me, and may we all continue in our recovery.

Wow, congratulations!

There is no time like the present for taking your power back.

I'm sixth generation Mormon too.

Been out longer, but the feeling of relief is the same. :)

Congrats! If you resign do they notify your family members? This is basically the only thing keeping me from resigning..

I think only if you are a minor or living at home.

I wonder if KSL will report that today set an all time record for resignations in a 24 hour period!

CONGRATS! I'm proud of you. You are rid of an EVIL force in your life.

Ive learned More about myself ... Values, priorities, etc. In a few short years since leaving than 40 years in.
LDS Inc. can only appeal to/deal with Morbots, regardless of what uchtdorf claimed; the disconnect between what they Say and what they DO is like the Grand Canyon at the widest point.

Congrats, greenkat!

Six generations down the road, you'll be seen as the pioneer of the family!

Me too! My sister did also.

Both of us for the same reason as you. It was the final straw.

I am surprised at the peace and freedom that I feel after resigning 2 weeks ago.
The results are that I feel more whole and honest with myself. I can say "I am not a Mormon" and let it go with people. I don't have to explain, defend or justify. No more mental gymnastics.

I find that Mormons never ask, "why not?"

I believe there is a high probability that some of my close Mormon relatives know I resigned, and that they will never ask me why, because they know the answer. They DO act conflicted from time to time, and they spend a lot of time in mental gymnastics required to stay faithful.

Unfortunately, LDS Inc. is 100% satisfied by its members who Blindly Obey; they throw out tripe like:

'You'll be blessed for obedience, even if the (counsel) is wrong'

In Fact, those are the <TITHE-PAYING> members that TSCC PREFERS.
If they could, they'd avoid ALL references to 'doctrine', values, principles, Honesty & Kindness, etc.
