My TBM aunt sent me an xmas gift. I had told here a few months back that the church was a fraud. She tried to change my mind but I asked her if she would believe the earth was flat if I begged her to. She said No. So we stopped talking church and changed to TV programs and family stuff. So with xmas here, she sent me a gift from Deseret Book. A Mo Tab music cd.

Do TBMs not have access to other stores, like Amazon or Barnes and Noble? When i was a member, I would never think to buy gifts at DB and it drives me nuts they think people want DB schlok. I just throw this stuff away. No desire to read or hear things Mormon.

If she loves you so she must bring you back in!

I have a long series of worthless Mormon crap from my family. The worst was a rambling collection of essays from my father. My wife still has it tucked away somewhere.

I hear you. The trash is exactly where those kind of gifts belong.

My TBM dad bought this book for one of my nephews for Christmas. He's either 6 or 7. My nephews parents don't attend morg church anymore. I rather doubt it'll get much use. Maybe my nephew can learn about the BOM fairy tales!?

I of course got a present that they all can enjoy. I got them several Years "Disney Infinity" figures since they have it in 2.0. I also play it. At least I know they enjoy my gift rather some stupid morg junk!

Check out my post on passive aggressive Mo Christmas behavior. It sound like your aunt and my wife are in cahoots! The Boner.

My cousin told me she is giving her grandchild this book by Monsoon about a train...

from DB. The grandchild is not a TBM and I doubt that his parents are going to appreciate it like she thinks they will. The kid likes trains. I suggested some other train type gift but to no avail.....GEEZ!

I remember that book! My little nephew got a copy of it for last year's Christmas from my TBM mother.

In the other subject I mentioned that the last two birthday gifts from my sibling were about religious people and their struggles. I appreciate the thought but I don't appreciate the intent. Maybe I will read them some day but they aren't going to influence me in a Mormon sort of way.

How do you distinguish between the thought and the intention? But I do agree that if one is bad, it can't make up for how good the other might be.

We take all the Mormon Religion gifts and use them as kindling to start our fire pit with. It is a well known fact that shlt burns. Especially Mormon shlt because it is extra heavy shlt.

But burned shit gets in the air and you have to breath it in, sort of like the camel dung Afghans burned for fuel. Yuck. ;-)

My daughter was surprised when she got what she called a "sex book" from my mom.

The book is, And They Were Not Ashamed: Strengthening Marriage Through Sexual Fulfillment

by Laura M. Brotherson

I was actually impressed that LDS women are working to promote sex in marriage, considering most messages in church are anti-sex. And there is no shaming in church for withholding sex, as there is with porn or having dirty thoughts, or whatever. Mostly an anti-male culture.

That sounds like a very unusual type and title of book from Deseret Books.

For a short period of time my mom got me Mormon gifts. I took it as a hint and for Mother's Day, Christmas and her birthday I bought her Mormon stuff, some book that Deseret bookstore was suggesting, Mormon tab choir cd, and a decorative chochki.
After the third gift she asked about it because she really appreciated the types of gifts I used to get her, just normal stuff that she actually liked and wanted. I explained that I assumed her gifting me Mormons stuff when I wasn't Mormon was a hint that she wanted Mormons gifts so I was going to only get her Mormon stuff from then on. I told her that I was planning on getting next a subscription the the Friend magazine because she must be missing all the stories now that there weren't an kids in the house.
She decided maybe we would stop doing religious gifts from then on.

I feel you. My TBM husband recently bought a half a dozen books from deseret and scattered them around the house. He's currently reading one....he never reads. It's been left on the couch open repeatedly. It's on endowments and helping readers understand the symbolism yada yada. I can only assume this is because of my issues and questions. Ironically I pushed at him and he admitted to not understanding the temple ceremonies but now he's diving into which might be worse. It takes everything in me not to "accidentally" burn them and toss the ashes out with the trash. I'd done a good job of clearing out the mormon propaganda from our house without the TBM husband noticing but now he must have noticed the void and has introduced fresh propaganda.

Try taking it back for merchandise credit.

Maybe you can put it towards a gift card to give back to her.

We took something back to DB for credit a while back. I couldn't find anything at the store I wanted, for about 3 times. But finally I found a game I wanted.

It amazes me how completely useless most of the stuff in that store is. The worst thing I ever saw was clay little oil lamps, and some blurb about the 10 virgins. When I saw it, there were about 100 of them on clearance. Not even the Mormons would buy them.

Taking it back to DB for merchandise credit is a great idea.

Or, give it back to your aunt and tell her you are certain she could find someone else to give it too. Doing that would give your heart some peace to have someone who appreciates it get the gift...because it doesn't give you any peace....and isn't that what this season is all about?
