This is really a brilliant if cynical move. Monson probably doesn't even know the whole fiasco is getting pinned on him! But as soon as he is gone, they have an easy out.

Monsen talks to Ghawd? According to what I read on Facebook, he is in a hospital in the last stages of dementia. Interesting.

It is a cynical move brought about I'm sure by all the recent
Resignations from the church. I suppose the leaders felt that
if they changed the "policy" to a commandment from Ghawd it would up the anti for the faithful. I think they have painted themselves into a corner from which there is no escape. One day
all the lies and bull shit will come back to haunt them.

I can't wait to see it happen.

I think this was mainly meant to placate the BYU students. If it's a revelation and not merely a policy change, they are more likely to accept it.

I just realized this was about the stupid Nelson talk. Yeah, maybe he is making it all up so they can blame it on the soon dead guy. But maybe Monson did come up with the policy on LGBTQ kids. It has all the hallmarks of dementia.
