Yesterday I was coerced into attending

a stake conference.

The chapel and "cultural" hall were, at the most, 50% full.

Attend temple was hammered, not just preached, for the whole meeting.

Translated this means "We want more tithing dollars" (You have to kick in the moola in order to be "recommended" for entry.

Oh my goodness!!!

same for my stake conference. They talked a lot about getting

youth into family history. The past couple of years they have

really pushed the youth to get involved in finding names for

temple work, and going to the temple. It just occurred to me

(duh) that it is to get them and keep them temple worthy, which

is the only way to get people to pay a "full tithe."

As increasing numbers of members lose interest in going to the temple (i.e., would rather not pay tithing) it won't be long until the brethren cook up other schemes for making money. Will they start charging admission to enter the meeting houses? Charge for parking? Chair rental fee? Pass the hat? Who knows...
