Growing up in a TBM family Root Beer was our drink of choice. No Cokes, No Mountain Dew, no Dr. Pepper - It was root beer, 7 UP or Kool Aid.

I finally found a beer that I love the taste of. It is called Not Your Father's Root Beer. Best tasting Beer. I also like really really cold Bud Light.

I can hardly wait for my TBM family and friends to come over and "discover" the root beer in the cooler.

Shiner Bock is always heavily stocked in the fridge. But coming in a close second is Landshark Lager. There are always a couple of extras that find their way in and at this time, Fat Tire, Guiness and a couple of Coors Lights (don't ask) are chillin'

If you're near AZ, Santanne Brewing's Mr. Pineapple is pretty good. Reminds me of Maui and the great beer being brewed there. But, don't stop there....the world of beer is ever varied and changing. When I was looking for a bootlegger to get me some beer when I was 16 (that's when I started on my beer quest and haven't stopped yet) the choices were very limited. Now with literally hundreds of beers, ales and stouts to pick from, I'm just trying to get through all the craft beers from Alberta and BC...hope I have enough time.

Lagunitas pale ale, Blue Moon, or any other variety of white beer(hefeweizen) are my favorites. They tend to be mild in taste. I have not yet developed a taste for the more bitter varieties of beers.

I was/am a dark beer fan but have grown to love wheat beers and ales, but when I find myself in a pub that's pulling pints of Guinness, I gotta have one, and my wife has a sip or three and she's not a beer drinker.

My favorite is still root beer. The A&W brand.

Not as good as it used to be, at least not in Canada. IMHO. Do they still have A&W Orange in the US. Mixed with their root beer, it makes Swamp Water...great with vodka!!

The first couple taste the best, then it doesn't matter, lol

As a Canadian, I like Canadian beer. But I have as of late been drinking beer from Holland and Germany. I like more of a bite.

But all beer is good beer

I do find it amusing when ladies says she likes beer, and then drinks Corona with a lime.

Life is too short to limit oneself to Bud and Coors Light. That is the mantra of my life.

For Ex- MO's?
I'd suggest rubbing their noses in it. Wasatch Brewery makes Polygamy Porter, St. Provo Girl and Evolution Ale.
Might as well enjoy a good beer while flipping off the church.

I'm glad you found something you like, but Not Your Father's Rootbeer is not beer. It's fermented root beer. Bud Light is beer. Anyway, beer is an acquired taste, so you should continue to try (and enjoy) different varieties of beer. Many of them will grow on you over time.

ESBs are sometimes in order (extra special bitter). Trappist (Monk) Ales can be quite a taste as well, as are Saisons. Occasionally I'll reach for a local beer from Southern Prohibition brewery. A few enjoyable ones are the Hipster Breakfast Ale, (Mississippi) Fireant, Pow! Rye in the Kisser and Jack-The-Sipper. I enjoy West Coast's Green Flash Ale(?) And Big Foot (seasonal) Ale! Ciders and Porters are two other leanings I sport.

I've never found a beer I liked, yet....

I am still open to recommendations - but, it would have to have some specific properties:
It would have to Not taste like any type of beer, lager, ale, porter or stout.
If it didnt taste like anything, that would be good, too
also, I drive a lot, so hopefully it would be completely non-alcoholic

I am told Becks light almost fits the bill, but I havent got around to trying it yet

I haven't found anyone yet who has tried it, but I think Kirtland light beer, 48 cans for $9.99, might fit the bill.

Okay, it's not $9.99 for 48 cans...

The best tasting beer for ex-Mos is all beer, according to individual preference. After all is said and done, all taste of sweet freedom.

Myself, I succumbed long ago to the hoppy craft IPA stuff though I'm far from averse to all types of brew, each according to various seasons and moods and occasions!

Unfortunately, it is now only legend, as nobody has a copy. No loss to me, I don't like root beer. Ginger ale is my usual soda choice. I rarely drink real beer, but when I do, it's usually a lager. I always keep some Sam Adams in the fridge during the summer, but I really should go out and try some more. Philadelphia is apparently a craft beer mecca.

People, people: The only real answer to our OP's question can be found in Fr. Cerveza's extensive treatise on beer history. "Tis best to quaff an ale or lager which is both free and cold. Upon finding oneself separated, removed, and apart from former brethren, one must insist on renewal of the spiritus by swilling mass quantities of barley pop and tuber chips."
In the name of cakeordeath, amen.

Would love an update on the reaction of the TBM's if they ever see your stash!

I love beer and keep them all in my vegetable crisper to avoid the awkward conversation that would come up. My TBM bro-in-law has an annoying habit of looking in our fridge when he pops in (who does that?). That's the only section of the fridge I'm sure he is foreign to. He probably wouldn't know what a Spaten Oktoberfest was anyways. Rookie.

Three olive band vodka has a delicious root beer flavored vodka. Unfortunately the DABC no longer carries it.
