in 21st century english:
Don't drink wine or hard alcohol, it isn't good for you and your Heavenly Father doesn't want you to do it. Drink wine at sacrament meeting.

yeah, no conflicting instructions there at all... lol =)

That's like saying masturbation destroys your soul. Only do it when you are praying to me.

The church used wine for the sacrament until prohibition.

It was wine "of your own make." Ah, those fine Utah wines. Scrub oaky with a sage brush finish.
