“bad pictures of people with little or no clothes on.”

Go to any swimming hole and snap some pictures.

.

I agree. The photographic quality is often bad. Now *good* pictures of people with little or no clothes on are fine with me.

Pictures of people with little clothes on (i.e. too small - like my trousers which make my belly overhang) are very distressing...

Pictures of people with few clothes on can be quite exciting however. Depends on the people.

“bad pictures of people with little or no clothes on.”

And so it continues.

The ever present linking of nakedness to being bad.

Pornography is not a national health crisis.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is.

Adam and Eve were naked when they screwed the rest of humanity by breaking the only commandment God gave them.

Nakedness leads to sin. That's an easy connection, but what I don't know for sure is this: Would Adam and Eve walking around naked be considered pornography?

Would photos of nudists walking and playing at the beach be considered pornographic?

course.

That's why they aren't naked in the temple video.

I wish Mormons would stop linking nudity with pornography. As concepts, they are totally different. Nudity is pure and pornography is arousing. The general goal of nude paintings is to appreciate the beauty of the human body. The goal of pornography is for the viewer to lust and "participate" with the piece. I would never look at Renaissance paintings of a mother and her child as pornographic. There really is no connection other than a lack of clothing.

They just need to see some pics of people at nudist colonies. The last thing they'll be thinking of is sex.

So true, but Mormons really think of it that way. My ex boyfriend wouldn't go to the Met with me because he considered the Greek statues pornographic. Seriously!!!!!

Funny when I was a Mormon I couldn't tell the difference between art and porno, now that I'm out I can tell. Go figure.

For me the difference started to exist only once I was out. Keeping it vague; once I was out I didn't have an enforced desparation built into my sexuality---I had normal release and I lost the need to focus on not thinking about sex. Before that, as a very young man I kept art history books around for less than artistic reasons. Any port in a storm.

I wonder how LDS, Inc. and local units will market this little gem. Email blasts? Handouts? Primary opening exercises?

Hmmm.

Maybe they'll talk about in combined Priesthood and Relief Society on next month's fifth Sunday!?? Or have talks about it in Sacrement!???
It's something that's going to have people walk on and feel very uncomfortable.

Maybe it'll be shown in the new Kids Room of the temple as part of a new Junior Endowment.

I wonder if they realize that lots of Looney Tunes are naked! Not Elmer Fudd, Granny or Yosemite Sam of course!

IMHO this is REALLY going to back fire. You think porn is at all time high now. Just give it another couple of years with this type of advertising.

Pornography will not be going away... just because you shout NO at it.

The more focus, energy, discussion that goes into it, the bigger it become whether you are shouting YES or NO. Shame and guilt will increase too. Talk about charging wind mills.

Look most men and women view porn and masturbate. Sometimes the viewing builds over time and ends in masturbation or sex with their partner, but usually masturbation. So this push against porn will only accentuate the Mormon demonization of masturbation.

So, I think I get this. The same parents who don't want the local schools to provide accurate information about human sexuality are okay with male church leaders talking to children behind closed doors about sex. This makes perfect sense to me, a Boner. Just saying....

In the intro, I found this almost hilarious: "According to an LDS Family Services counseling manager, Ben Erwin, pornography stands to be among the most damaging elements in the society. Pornography is all about stuffing the minds of people with unambiguous images which offer an unreal understanding of sexual intimacy." What do they know about sexual intimacy?

I actually read a number of the comments below the video. Most were very similar, talking about how "the Saviour" can heal any addiction, etc. and also of the importance and necessity of discussing your porn addiction with your bishop. One comment that I found very funny: "For starters, porn is as to real love as chef Boyardee is to gourmet Italian pasta."

Most people will miss this. They have a young girl praying by her bed. The narrator says that "when you are baptized, the Holy Ghost
can be with you and teach you how to get out of situations where pornography is involved. trust the Holy Ghost to guide you."

But children of gay parents are going to be denied this blessing until they are 18. I guess those children don't need the guidance of the Holy Ghost. That is a major turn off for me about this video.

They wish...

Chef Boyardee has an impressive resume:

What I wonder is, what do they know about porn?

They claim all kinds of things about somthing they don't watch.

Why, when they don't watch it, do they know so much about it?

Maybe they should shut up and do their homework.

OK, so if any sort of "porn" is illegal, where the heck are they going to get a realistic view of human sexuality? In my experience, nowhere. I was afraid to ask questions, and I carefully covered all the nude pix in my art history class. This, guess what, did not really prepare me for marriage. Who's going to decide what's "realistic" or not? I think the church just wants to pretend that sex doesn't exist, but it's like holding back a sneeze-- just makes it worse.

The women in the church throw big tantrums about Victoria's Secret pictures on their store windows, but I haven't heard one peep about Sonobello commercials and they run steadily all day long. I guess if it is fat, it isn't porn?
