Mormonism and Scientology share a common enemy - everyone else. And now it seems both groups are experiencing increasingly high profile defections. If they combined their numbers and their wealth they would become the most powerful cult in history. They could call it Mormontology. Their symbol could be Moroni standing on top of that cross like thing.

The Judean Peoples' Front?

Apologies - it's a running joke in the Life of Brian which I like.

Judean Peoples front? Pfft wankers. We're the People's Front of Judea.

Anyway, I would have thought their common enemy it 'truth'.

There are only 144k slots in Heaven and you aren't getting one because you forgot the most important partner in this merger. The group should be called Mormontology Witnesses with the watchtower somewhere in the logo.

I've got your back Dave.

I am awaiting the Mormonism equivalent of "Going Clear" and believe it can be every bit as FREAKY in beliefs and how they treat members.

Nah. They couldn't agree on anything. There is very little merging or uniting in religion anyhow. Too many differences. But that's OK. We can do that.
People are interested in different kinds of truth. What is a truth for one is not for another person. Religious beliefs are subjective truths. And that's OK as we can do that also.
The only thing that works is to respect everyone's right to their own belief system. (Well, and follow the laws of the land, of course.)
If your beliefs help you to have joy and peace in your life, let it be.
If they don't, if the beliefs are too intrusive, annoying, controlling, invasive, etc. you are free to change your mind~!

Both were founded by fantasy and science fiction writers. Both are cults with members enriching the leaders through donations and free labor. Both represent space peoples. Both promote spiritual powers. Both are black holes sucking at everything.
