A friend, who teaches institute, posted this manual today. He openly admitted there were some 'changes in emphasis' regarding core doctrine. It is a relatively new manual for all seminary and institute students.

I did not pick up on the 'changes in emphasis' but the core doctrine summaries were very basic.

HOWEVER; the introduction and first section on 'Acquiring Spiritual Knowledge' were vomit-inducing. Just wretched, controlling, cultish advice on how to stay Mormon, at the expense of higher-level thinking and reason. Blegh.

Notice anything good(bad)?

1. The 22-page document only contains about 11 1/2 pages of actual instructional material. ("Less is more.")

2. The mixed-race girl on the "cover" shows that the Mormon church finally "gets it." (Woo hoo! Can a black, lesbian prophetess be that far behind?)

3. There's a section titled "Seek Further Understanding through Divinely Appointed Sources." I think I'd change that to: "Internet BAD!--Why Not Ask Your Seminary Teacher, Instead?"

Exactly!! I couldn't believe the word 'internet' didn't pop up there. It was definitely the unnamed 'adversary.'

Looks like we need to add "divinely appointed source" to the wiggle word list.
Might as well add "core document" too.

One new thing I noticed is that the disobedient will be sent to spiritual prison along with the uninformed. Once there, the unfortunates will be taught (or re-educated in) the gospel. Zair ees no escape. You vill be Mormon.

Good catch. I saw that spirit prison was in there for the unrighteous and I wondered if that's what I was taught. I thought of spirit prison as a place for the wicked, but not as wicked as outer darkness. Maybe that is just me misremembering. I didn't think it was a spot for believers who just like to party. ;)

re-education camps for non-mormons ? sounds communist to me.

they already had a pretty spiffy pamphlet, it is (was?) called:
"True to the Faith".

Has anyone seen this or heard of it?

it has some basics of doctrine covered, but mostly about TSCC, not Christianity.

Yeah I've seen TTTF. It seems to me that this a more simplified, dogmatic version of it. And the section on how to receive information through your godly-google-goggles is a new addition. The Church has to ramp up it's anti-anti-mormon rhetoric.

I wonder if they've 'seriously' circulated copies of TTTF;

at least it touches on Repentance & Forgiving, divorce, & others in an 'almost true' Christian perspective.

Hope? I.Don't.Think.So.

Seems a pretty thin volume to denote mastery of anything?

Just sayin', ya know?
