Why does everybody call each other "brother/Sister" in TSCC? It always embarrassed me and made me feel uncomfortable. I especially hated it in a non-church setting such as the mall. I always called people by Christian name but it was rarely reciprocated...
It's cuz they're 'speshul'. They smirk when they hear or read opinions like yours. It reinforces how 'speshul' they are.

I want soooooo much to have an encounter with David Bednar. He goes all purple if you call him anything other than Elder. I think he'd probably like it even better if you called him Your Supreme Highness Elder.

Tell her she should correct them and have them call her "Sister Mary Burr". The look of absolute confusion she will get will be worth it.

Outwardly they teach that we are all brothers and sisters, equal in the sight of God. But if you read the BOM, BOA, pre 1978 priesthood doctrine, they don't really believe it.
Do you realize how ungrateful you are being when you say "Don't call me sister?" Shesh! They are acknowledging that you, yeah YOU, are in their elite club of Mornons and you should be oh, sooooo grateful!
