God was texting using a rock on his end. They didn't need cell towers either because boulders served that function. But Joseph needed a hat because he only had one bar. The mountains were far away.

Now if you look at Moses, he got five bars because he was right on Mt Sinai.

And those tall structures you see on each farm--the ones with the whirling fanlike thingies on top--those are the cell towers.
