The above link made me remember some things I said as a child Mormon. I remember once asserting with certitude that Mormons were the "real" Christians when a leader in Sunday School was talking about Christianity.

The problem was he told me I was correct and praised me for my comment.

I don't recall any particular moments like that, but I do remember feeling superior a lot, like we were better because we denied ourselves more things.

But now I like this line from the book/movie, Chocolat.

"I think that we can't go around measuring our goodness by what we don't do, by what we deny ourselves, what we resist, and who we exclude.
I think we've got to measure goodness by what we embrace, what we create, and who we include."
