Probably not. That seems like a bit of a stretched parallel.

The Book of Mormon was based off of the Mound Builder Myth. Part of the myth states that the developed tribe (Nephites) and the wild, black, troublesome tribe (Lamenites) had their final battle on top of a hill, where the developed Christian Jews would be wiped out entirely.

The story of the Jaredites "coincidentally" ends in almost the same way.

The "Book Of Mormon" ends around the same time the western Roman Empire collapses. The authors were aware of Roman history. Solomon Spalding's lost novella was about Romans who settled in America...just more things that make you go "hmmm..."

Yeah this fighting to the last man stuff is just silly and repugnant...has there ever been another battle unless completely surrounded where those losing didnt just try to flee to fight another day....i guess its supposed to show just how depraved these people were but it fails miserably...guess gawd is just a wanna be stephen king too
