On Facebook, I belong to a group "If you grew up in Salt Lake City, you'll remember this" and people post and talk about old businesses and other stuff in SLC. Some very interesting pictures and memories for lots of people

Anyway, there's a guy there who's at least my age, and he posts lots of interesting pictures; he runs a store in Midvale where he sells interesting collectible, but lives downtown.

Anyway he posted this picture today and he added the title at the top. There was an article about the actual magazine piece in 2012, so it's not new. He gets lots of ex-mo comments too.

That's about as cute and funny as leprosy. Oh and tasteless. It's like they glory in their bland whiteness.

I do believe there was absolutely no intention of that being any kind of ethnic slam. It was, as you say, just that they are SO totally clueless. It's like all the stupid memes these people from Utah and Idaho post about current social situations. You just want to say, "aren't you embarrassed to show how stupid you are?" But of course they're not because the majority of their FB connections are people just like them who are just as clueless.

It's all starting to make sense now. A half-Asian Mormon lady I know is pained when reminded of her "otherness" (read: her Japanese heritage). Her traits have naturally extended into her children, who at last count, can't leave the peroxide alone.

Any who did would deny it.

They soon changed the caption to "Colorful women".

If you hadn't heard, famed (at one time infamous) abolitionist Harriet Tubman will be replacing pro-slavery Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. No, it's not an Onion joke.

I'd like to see TSCC do something, one tiny thing, to apologize for its historical treatment of blacks.

Never gonna happen. Elder Oaks has made it clear that TSCC does not apologize ever. An apology did slip through for MMM, but that was an anomaly.

How shocking that no African Americans or others "Of Color" have ever applied for a job or internship at that fine Utah magazine!

I had about 20 better lines to fit that article than the original... the first being

Okay, maybe not any better but still rather fitting... Heh.
