Trip to Portland coming up and hoping some of you may have recommendations of places to visit. DH & I are accompanying our daughter, SIL and 22 month old grandbaby. They are attending a conference and we will have several days of taking the grandbaby on a tour of Portland. Are there any good parks that accommodate children that young? Little Red Bakery, Saint Cupcake and Stump Town Coffee have been recommended by our son (DH loves bakeries).

The Beverly Cleary Park for children might be fun to take your grandchild.

Portland has a great zoo. There's a cute little train that will take you from the zoo through the forest and to the Rose garden that overlooks the city and Mt. Hood.

Cannon beach can be a day trip that's well worth it.

She loves the zoo. Goes to the Oakland Zoo frequently so she would enjoy it.

A drive up the Clackamas River is truly beautiful. Hike to Ramona falls. The fish hatchery across from Bonneville Dam. Great restaurant on the 30th floor of the US Bank building called Portland City Gril. Great views of the city, river and mountains.

If you are into beer, try any of the McMennamin Pubs. Powells Books is the largest bookstore in America.

Have a great time!!

The Oregon Zoo is a cheap, short light-rail ride from downtown Portland.

Portland's "Pearl District," north of downtown, is replete with interesting restaurants, shops, and galleries, including the Deschutes Brewery.

Nob Hill, to the NW of downtown (NW 23rd Ave.) has many great restaurants and some trendy shopping.

There are a number of excellent boutique hotels in or near downtown Portland if you need a place to stay.

Last time I was in Portland (about 1 year ago) there was a lively group of parents with small children playing in Keller Fountain Park. The kids were having a blast playing in the fountain. It's on SW Clay Street.

If you have a car to get around, your grandchild would just love the Enchanted Forest Amusement Park, nearby in Salem, Oregon less than one hour away via the I-5.

It's right out of a fairy tale, and a smaller (let's hope much lesser expensive) version of Disneyland. For a 22-month old, he or she won't know the difference. :)

Something indescribably delishus while there is its birthday cake ice cream... in the Ice Cream Shoppe right next to the Snack Shoppe, so says the following review: :)

Enchanted forest is a great place but be prepared to walk a lot. It's a pretty good hike. Also be prepared to watch that little monster disappear into a little tunnel just the right size for a kid. Don't fret all roads lead out to the same place. Just join the other parents sitting on the benches watching their kids streak around. You'll need around 4 hours to cover it all.

Iris what week will you be there? We are taking our vacation there this summer as well. Week of July 24th.

On our hit list is Oaks amusement park, zoo, Japanese & Rose Gardens and then we are running over to Newport for the Oregon Coast Aquarium, tidepools, and beach fun.

If you can get out of the town, go to Multnomah Falls on the Columbia River Gorge. Outstanding!

Lots of funky little restaurants out in Hawthorne, area.

Seaside or Astoria on the coast are excellent day trips.

The Children's Museum is right by the zoo. OMSI is also a fun science museum to visit with lots of interactive displays. Check out Voodoo donuts.

If you need a sugar fix, voodoo donuts is fun. Pine state biscuit company has great biscuits and gravy. It was featured on dinners, drive-ins and dives.
