Wasatch Apricot Heff and a slice of peach pie? Coffee stout and cherry pie? Apple ale and apple pie? Belgium Wit and orange meringue? Porter and pecan?

Seriously I can keep going. . . Beer pairs just as well as wine IF you know your varieties

"Pie and Beer Day"-"Pioneer Day". It's a way for the gentiles to celebrate July 24th.

And not all pie is sweet. Beer and a crawfish pie sounds pretty good actually.

Hey! we've got open minds here. If you'd rather have wings and beer on "pie 'n' beer" day so be it. For those of you not familiar with Utah Mormon customs, Pioneer Day (July 24) commemorates the Mormon pioneers entering Salt Lake Valley. It's a state holiday and, as has been discussed here, probably a bigger event in Utah than the Fourth of July.

So, raise a cold glass of beer, shout out a hearty cheers and fuck the Morg to your EXMO friends, and, if you choose, have a piece of pie. The Pioneer's Boner.

Perhaps imagine savoury pie like chicken pot pie, tourtière, shepherd's pie, steak pie or whatever your fancy. Any of those would be delicious washed down with a pint.

"Uh-oh, Spaghetti-O!!" was the utterance of a minor character in "Still Life with Woodpecker" which I read 26 years ago. But I can't remember where I left my keys...

Exactly. Savory pies actually do go great with a pint of beer. That's why you find different savory pies on the menu at pubs.

Steve, you're just figuring this out? I prefer to be an official wanker. The Boner.

My daughter was born on "pie and beer" day. That's the celebration in our family.

The Cathedral of the Madeline in SLC is having a Pie and Beer Day celebration. A few breweries are coming and the money is going to a good cause (the Choir School IIRC). I would definitely go if I was going to be in town. However I decided a couple of years back that I will do everything in my power to not be in the state of Utah during Pioneer Day! Idiots throw a bigger shendig than Independence Day, and that bothers my patriotic soul to my core.
