Has it even been released yet? I just saw some previews, and while I am intrigued, the Charleton Heston version was so perfect, I'm not sure I want to take a chance on being disillusioned.
Gutsy move to remake what is probably one of the best films to ever be made. Still, i'm intrigued and will probably go see the 21st century spin on it.
From the trailer it looks like its filmed with the same frenetic pace for the ADD audiences of today.
I just barely saw the trailer this morning. I hadn't heard that they were remaking it. Yeah, gutsy move. But I'll have to see it. Back in the day when you only got to see old movies when it was the late movie on one of the 3 major TV stations, we would wait anxiously for that one to come on, usually about once a year.
Our Christmas present in the MTC back in December of 1976 was a showing of the Charlton Heston version.
Earlier that day we were allowed a phone call home to our family. During the movie I told my companion that I felt "inspired" to call my grandparents. He encouraged me to follow up on my "inspiration". So...while he stayed and watched the movie, I went and called my girlfriend. She teased me with some phone sex knowing that I couldn't respond. I always wondered if the MTC "powers that be" were listening in. If they were, someone was rubbing one out. LOL!!
I'll likely go with my TBM dad a few days after it comes out. I wont know if we're getting it or not until that week. I'm still wondering how do you top Heston!??
...I was kinda wondering how every character spoke in a perfect British accent, except for Morgan Freeman, whose accent was kinda black northern Mississippi-ish.
I'll have to get around to seeing it too. But the old one was so amazing especially mikal roza's score, perhaps the greatest music ever composed for a movie. I can't see anyone creating such a wonderful score again...
And the Nativity scene at the first has never been topped.
I saw the Charelton Heston version in the theatre. Will probably wait until this new one is on my sat TV movie package (I do not like theatres). Hope nobody tries to remake Lawrence of Arabia. That would be a mistake.
I thought the Charlton Heston version was pretty good, except for the Jesus stuff that seemed tacked on and out-of-character. And I was an active Mormon when I saw it.
We live fairly close to the General Lew Wallace museum in Indiana. It's one of those things where we keep telling each other, yeah, we oughta go check it out, but we never quite make it...
