The more I read here, the less I am convinced that was ever a mormon. I didn't smoke or do drugs. Didn't drink except for medicinal purposes. I did the whole church thing, priesthood thing etc.
Because of home conditions I fled to the military before I graduated high school. After my 2 year hitch where I kept mormon standards I was told a mission was not a good fit for me because I had seen combat. So I was "excused"
I traveled a lot and married outside the temple. But in those days I doubt there were 5 temples outside the U.S.
I never tried to convert anyone, though I answered questions as honestly as I could.
I never lied about polygamy and was fully aware Joseph practiced it.
I never denied that men would become gods if anyone asked.
I had friends from all religions and dated women of many ethnic backgrounds including a lovely black girl in the days the priesthood was banned.
I never shunned a friend or family member.
I never based my affiliation or affections on a person's religion.
I only paid tithing if my family was fed, clothed and healthy.
I turned down callings and told the bishop more than once it was time to release my wife.
I voted against a person for a position on the stake presidency because I knew he was sleeping around.
I spoke up if I thought doctrine was incorrect.
Guess I was just a bad mormon.
