The ideal body from a mortal perspective changes from time to time and culture to culture. Based on your interactions with Mormons and your experience as a Mormon, is there some reflection in the religion's doctrines as to what this perfect body looks like? Is it believed that a range of body types (heights, compositions, colors, abilities, etc) will exist? Or will everyone look more or less similar? Will everyone look like superman or Wonder Woman? Or is the idea of perfection broader than that?

I never thought, as a TBM, that everyone would look like Superman and Wonder Woman. I thought everyone would look about how they look now...minus any birth defects, etc... Then I went to the temple and gained further light and knowledge. I now know that there will be no women, and the men will all wear matching sparkly polyester robes and fake white beards. Don't ask why...we'll find out in the next life...and it will be AWESOME!

Can I enter your celestial kingdom? Heaven would be a good hearty laugh every morning seeing the matching sparkly robes.

The ‘perfect’ in perfect body I think has reference not to physique nor beauty, but to the constitution and completeness of the body. Here are some definitions of the word perfect: “having all the necessary or appropriate parts”, “total, finished, pure”. A perfect body will have no imperfections, no birth defects, no signs of injury, no missing parts or features because of accident or mishap. Every person will have his/her own distinct features, size, constitution, talents, abilities etc. The individuality and variety that exists among people is one of the most intriguing things to look forward to in the next life!

...except there's no evidence there's any "next life" to look forward to.

Oops.

No missing parts....

So we'd all have..

Wisdom teeth, baby teeth, tonsils, appendixes. Indeed, all those parts that evolution has made useless (arrector pili, coccyx, male nipples, body hair). Umbilical cords tied in knots? Maybe placentas? (they would fall off naturally after about 10 days if not cut off)

Men have foreskin. Women have hymens.

Finished...

Hair that doesn't grow, can't be cut or shaved or fall off. Toenails and fingernails that are some length forever? Do we choose or does God?

It all seems very silly to me now. I don't want a resurrected perfect body, and I don't believe I came to earth to get one.

I'm content with my body being worm food or ashes.

I don't mind. Women will have armpit hair and hairy legs. Are men going to mind?

I don't care, besides its not the equipment they use, it's how they use it.

I don't know what bodies will look like, but guessing from the "whitesome and delightsome", I bet I know what color everyone will be...

Celestial beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I mean, have you *seen* the photos of most of BY's wives? Or BY himself?

Me, I don't give a shit about "perfect." It doesn't exist. I like people the way they are, big or small, skinny or fat, dark or light, and everything in between. I love the variety and individuality. I despise the (fantasy) mormon idea of everybody being white, delightsome, and perfect in their imagined afterlife. How boring and ugly.

this thread makes me belly laugh.

All I know is no pooping from celestial bodies because my grandparents said the perfect body uses up all the food eaten so no need to poop.

too many people in the World / U.S. are obese.

Will there also be no flatulence? A perfect body has fewer parts than an imperfect body?

Will there be no 'butt crack' then? Will plumbers be freed from opprobrium?

I for one would miss butt cheeks.

If bipedal ambulation is to occur, I believe butt cracks will persist, insomuch as the butt crack is a function of bilateral lower extremity musculature that enables walking and related functioning.

The whole Mormon idea of celestial males have celestial sex with multiple celestial females thereby producing celestial spirits to animate newly created physical bodies on other worlds is one hell of a whopper for sure!

Of course, anyone foolish enough to actually believe the Book of Mormon is anything other than frontier fiction would likely stomach this bullshit as well.

That perfect body image has changed as I've gotten older. I now look upon all the women I meet as being equally beautiful each in their own way. I like to imagine that I still have all my good looks from some fifty odd years ago, but the mind will play tricks on you more than you would like to admit. Ah, age has really a wonderful way of opening a person to look for more than just mere physical beauty as the ideal in perfection whether celestial or otherwise.

it will be neo- nazi- heaven. Everyone is suppose to look like those legendary Aryans. The tall/giant race, of blonde hair, blue eyes, light framed, effeminate featured people that got intermixed but is mostly still somewhat found in the Nordic countries of Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Holland.

That's what I always thought.

I used to think it meant some silly social standard of beauty, but we'd all have whit hair and blue eyes, because that what resurrected being looked like, right?

It's described as us being in our various primes... So our bodies at thei height of their fitness and health, (and those who were born deficient in this would be granted it then). Voices when they reach their ideal pitch. Etc etc... As all these peaks kind of happen at different times in our lives, it supposedly takes all the best fro across those eras and combines them.

As I got older, I kind of came to think that we might choose what that is.... I honestly can't think we could ideally be confined to a singular shape for eternity... It would imply we can't change... And given were expected to keep learning through eternity... Eh

Anyway, that all really matters if you believe in that anymore anyway...
