My first daughter has arrived. She was a bit stubborn and didn't want to come out of her warm floaty home inside my wife. The Dr's thought otherwise and she required an emergency C-Section to evict her safely. They discovered the cord round her neck when they went in, which explains the erratic heart rates they were seeing during early labour.

Mother and Baby are fine and doing well. I'm just a mixture of elated, proud , and tired.

My first two kids (boys) with my ex-wife looked a LOT like me when they came out. Baby girl looks more like her mum, apparently her Asian genes were a bit too strong for my weak Caucasian genes. Ha ha ha. I say lucky baby girl.

I'm also happy she will never grow up as a Mormon girl. She'll grow up in a much better environment than that.

Yay for new life and a healthy cute baby.

Emaline - which purely by coincidence is a James Darren song.

And middle name Oanh - Vietnamese, and is a type of nightingale. That name is from her grandmother.

Congrats! My two girls came into the world through slice and dice, too--quick, but no fun for Mama when the incision starts to ache.

Now, just make sure you tell the story of her arrival the *same way* every time or members of this board may become anti-Steers "by trying to show discrepancies and contradictions with the other accounts of this extraordinary event."

They didn't do the C-section in a Sacred Grove, did they? :-)

Congratulations!

Sounds like that could have been a very dangerous situation had they not had the C-section. Glad it turned out well for you all.

Welcome to the world, little girl!

Aww, congratulations! I think your new baby girl will have you wrapped around her very little pinky finger. ;)

My nephew arrived the same way, and under the same circumstances. My brother just gave a toast at his wedding this past summer, recalling that moment when he first saw his son lifted out of his mom's belly, struggling for life...and prevailing.

Oh, THAT is the good news! Congratulations!
Daughters are a joy and the most frightening thing a father can have. Enjoy both the joy and the fear!

My first two kids, a boy and a girl (from Caucasian me and Asian mom) look quite mixed, leaning just a bit towards Asian.

Our last (girl), now 15 months old, looks like mom ran out of Asian genes. Everybody points to me, and says she's "mini-me."

Poor kid :(

Congrats on yours!!!

Congrats on the newest arrival!

She'll be a daddy's girl in no time.

C-sections are much harder than regular labor for recovery. Hope your wife is doing okay. That was some scare with the umbilical cord.

Congrats, Pops!

Since she's a Baby Steer, my first thought for a name would be Veal, which is why you should ask somebody else.

Did she have an epidural? Pitocin? Drugs lead to 'erratic' (please post what was dx'd as 'erratic') heart rate. Was your wife on her back and paralyzed (epidural) the entire time?

Nuchal cord is not cause for 'erratic heart rates'. Who told you this?

Do you understand that babies are breathing in utero via placenta? Or do you think that they take their first breath outside the womb? Please tell us what your misunderstandings are regarding human physiology.

Not a stranger on the internet who expects a new father to open himself up to criticism from strangers who likely know less about his situation than he does.

little girls love their daddy - their relationship with their daddy will dictate how she allows herself to be treated in her intimate relationships. I am confident you will be a good father to her. congratulations and best wishes to recovering mrs steers.
