My guess is that in the states that have recreational marijuana legalization ballot measures, those meetings were to tell members to vote NO on legalization. That, or talking about the evil porn industry.

Interesting because today I came across a letter from the first presidency asking members to oppose legalization of marijuana. It was only sent to AZ, NV, and CA (maybe another one).
Hmmmmm...is the church getting into politics? Thought that was a no-no.
