We don't know.

Why the founder of the SLC Mormon Theocracy, not God, chosse to start a ban against blacks entering the temple or receiving the priesthood. He was abundantly clear on why he instituted the ban, due to his racist interpretation of the increadibly racist Mormon scriptures, which are still, to this day racist AF!

"How did you feel as you watched that video?"

"I felt good"

"That's the Holy Ghost telling you that the church is true/Joseph was a prophet/bom is true"

"Every time you feel that feeling, it's testifying the church is true"

Interesting. I felt really good romping around with a hot blonde escort in Vegas. It was definitely the spirit!

I'm kidding.

Interestingly those two often come from the same TBM within
minutes of each other. When you make a statement they say, "we
never taught that." Then after you've shown them the
documentation they say, "I always knew that."

I go with StillAnon on the biggest lie is "I know the Church is True". It's a lie. A lie they tell themself.

Not only that, but it's the ONLY true church upon the face of the earth.

The guy who said that LDS History is 'AN OPEN BOOK' ...

I Mean, of course, ALL the of a leaders who've said that.

permit me One example:

The FIRST edition of the BoM , the witness stmnt said that Joe was the (wait for it) AUTHOR of the BoM; All later eds. said he was the TRANSLATOR.

DID ALL the witnesses assent to the change, or, did CENCOM just write the CHANGE in Without their agreement.

Folks, we'll Never Know!!!!

The purpose of life is happiness.

If that were true, you wouldn't have to self-lobotomize to pull it off.

Anything to do with the millennium. It was all I fucking heard when I was growing up. Gotta be righteous so we'll be one of the chosen ones in the millennium. Fuck that.

"Mormonism provides the best way to raise children."

That lie caused me to allow the Mormons to abuse my children--for several years. The Mormon leaders threatened my children not to tell me about the beatings, name-calling and ridicule, and the attempted molestation of my little girl. My little girl and the others were so frightened, that they didn't tell me until years later! As soon as they told me--I told them they never had to go back there.

I wish I could have those years back, and undo those bad times.

Mormonism is evil.

The one I heard all the time when I was a kid was that once a temple was dedicated Jesus himself did a walk through to give it a thumbs up, I guess.
Of course the St. George Temple founding fathers story is pretty good lie. I can't remember what clown said they saw the founding fathers there bitching their work had not been done.

That they are happy. So many Mormon women I know are incredibly miserable but good at pasting on a fake smile and feigning happiness. If you actually talk to them though and inquire about how they are really doing, they are miserable, stressed, always feeling inadequate...

"The 'lifting' of the Priesthood Ban was an 'inspired revelation.'"
That's right folks, there was no outside pressure. The fact that college sport teams boycotted/protested against playing against BYU for their racist views had NOTHING to do with "the lift." The fact that LD$, Inc. were in danger of losing their Non-Profit status and lots of money had NOTHING to do with either!

"The ending of polygamy was also an inspired revelation."
Again, no outside pressure here!

"The garments will protect us."
Protect us from WHAT?!

"The Book of Mormon is the most correct book."
The book plagiarized the "Views of the Hebrews" by Ethan Smith (no relation to Joseph Smith, but they did live within ten miles of each other, I hear). It also plagiarized the New Testament, and another book where the title escapes me. Does anyone know what it is?
Let's also talk about how the book has more than one editions, had "corrected" and republished quite a few times.
The most correct book, eh?

Whoops! I wrote down more than one!

That the Church is True.

What exactly does that mean?

That all that the leaders speak is "true"? (Meaning they are infallible?)

But how can that be, when what leaders have said has changed through the years, starting with the beginning (even J.S. 1st vision versions). And, leaders have differed in opinion reg. the "Mormon" brand of the gospel, from the beginning, to today.

For instance, conference talks have been altered after they were given, if the speaker didn't follow the current line of "approved" teachings.

And so on and so forth.

Hands down it's gotta be the Joseph Smith translated the BOM. I learned from being a missionary how to speak/read Spanish and translate.

In order to translate a book, or set of gold plates- you:

- cannot have your face inside a hat full of rocks
- cannot have the book you're translating out of sight (in another room)

if you meet one or more of the criteria above, why what need do you have for gold plates in the first place?

C'mon J Smith- all you did was write a book of fiction...

Here's the latest Mormon spin on how the "translation" took place:

That a prophet today actually speaks with God. What hubris. Not even the Catholic Church claims that about the Pope.
