What is the Mormons' reason for circumcision? Is it not religious and temple sealing is the new foreskin?

The passage from Exodus where God sought to kill Moses by way of an Inn:


And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:

And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.

So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.


Behold, the husband is blamed for the *mother's* sacrifice! Yet I'm the one without a forskin. Pure vaudeville...

However you want to interpret it, midrash or Mormon or how you will, the passage is clearly something other than "rather uneventful."

Mormons should have no religious reason to circumcise, since Moroni 8:8 says that the "law of circumcision" is done away with.

That's why mormon men wear neckties. To keep their foreskins from closing over their heads.

For what it's worth, circumcision was practiced by the Egyptians
centuries before the earliest time Abraham could have lived.

So when God said to Abraham to circumcise himself it was,
evidently, to make sure all the Hebrews resembled the main pagan
culture in the region.

It seems like a waste just to toss all those foreskins in the trash.

TSCC should collect them, grind them up, can them, and ship a case or two to each missionary. Probably high-quality protein--just what those poor kids need, walking around ringing doorbells all day.

Did you hear about the mohel who collected the foreskins he cut off and made them into a wallet?

If you hold it your hand too long, it turns into a suitcase.

Some cultures do it as a rite of passage. Messing with dicks seems like a somewhat popular human phenomenon as brutal as it is. The reasoning never makes any real sense.

Show me a physically and mentally healthy adult who freely volunteers for genital mutilation.

"Circumcision" is only a medical euphemism for genital mutilation. Cutting children in this manner should be outlawed.

I agree. My boys are not circumcised.

my dad wasn't, me and my brothers aren't and my sons are not. never knew why my dad wasn't, but glad about it and hope more and more people stop doing it. silly, crazy practice
