I haven't gone to church in about 6 years but every other month or so someone from the church tries to contact me. My husband and I moved several months back and I got about 3 different messages from the church asking if they could have my address, but I never responded or gave it to them, well today I had a text message saying welcome to the such and such ward when can we stop by to meet you.....how the heck did they get my address?? And most of these message I have gotten have been on facebook so that's also weird! Does anyone know how exactly they go about doing this?

Forwarding address from post office. Parents. "Friends" & family. It's a job, but someone's gotta do it.

That is crazy!! Thanks for sharing! I'm still trying to decide if I should reply to them or keep ignoring them, as ignoring then has done me no good.

They think they have a perfect right to continue to harass anyone who has ever darkened their door. It's a full time job for the "volunteer" who track down former members and get bragging rights for badgering them.

I ratted out the Mob.

I used to be part of the Bambino crime family. I got caught and
it was either testify or do heavy time. So I sang like a
canary. After the trial I got put in the Witness Protection
Program. They gave me a new name, new Social Security number, a
totally new identity. They moved me across the country, gave me
a new job, and I even got plastic surgery to make me
unrecognizable.

Three weeks after I arrived here the EQP came by to welcome me
into the ward.

That's because the "they" who moved you (FBI) is full of mormons :)

I had been a ward finance clerk until the day my divorce was final (still living with my ex...it's a long story) and then I moved to a ratty apartment in DT Salt Lake City. I was leaving my ex, my home of 17 years and my ward calling.

There were missionaries living across the courtyard and I was sure they'd want to chat with me but other than say hello as we passed in the entry, they never said a word. I was only there about 9 months and they changed a few times.

I went out to my ex's place one day, and while I was there, the phone rang. My ex answered and said, well, he's here right now, so I'll let you talk to him. It was some clerk from membership records from the church asking for my residence etc, and I figured my new address and phone # weren't secret, so I gave it to her.

I lived in Utah for at least another 6-8 months before I moved to Las Vegas, and never had one contact, neither phone nor home teachers etc while I lived there.

I'd been in Las Vegas for maybe 9 months and got a phone message (back in the day when we had answering machines on our home phones) from the ward clerk. He said he would call back and I never heard another word. Never did know how he found my NV phone number.

When I bought my little condo over in the ghetto by Texas Station casino, I got a post card one day from your "home teacher", (no name) to say he would stay in touch. My phone# wasn't unlisted but he never called and I got a few postcards. That was in 2007, give or take.

Since then, I've lived in several more places, moved back to Utah and have yet to hear from anyone here. I assumed when I was here I'd start getting regular visits but to date, 18 months later, nothing. Which is OK by me :)

They've been trained to use every trick and avenue that detectives and bill collectors use for tracking down people who want to be left alone. They are relentless because they think they're doing God's work. They have nothing better to do with their time receive satisfaction and massive praise for each victim they corner.

Don't forget alumni associations. They can find anyone.

I wonder if this is typical? Anyone else been successful telling their alumni association to leave them alone?

I told mormons to leave me alone many times and it never worked.

Yes, I got the fund-raising calls from my grad school to stop by telling one caller that I would never give the school so much as a dime, and why. I guess he put me on the "do not call" list.

It took years of telling mormons, plus a garden hose, and a police report to stop the mormons.

Don't they feel bad about stalking?? I mean, that is not a kind thing to do. If God existed, then he'd steer you in the right direction, no need for stalkers to track you down unlessss

they don't believe God is capable of steering a sheep back to the flock after they move?

Sounds more like the mob tracking down people that owe them money than a church looking out for its members.

Do you always (feel like you have to) answer/ respond to messages from those you don't know/ strangers/ salesmen/ bill collectors/ fishermen/ jerks?

Revelation. It's a church of revelation, and God comes to church leaders, descending from heaven on a flaming pie, and tells them where you have moved to.

My husband and I were ward mission leaders. We visted inactived to try to reactivate them. I hated it! I once told one that if they didnt want to be contacted they should resign. My then husband was very angry with me, shamed me till I bowed my head and said yes, your right.

but no longer wanted to see it would be considered stalking and you could file for a restraining order if it bothered you, instead it is just the actions of a CULT!

Asking out the neighbors is also a great tool for them. Right before Christmas two ladies showed up (turned out that they were RS leadership, with cookies) - we haven't been in contact with tssc for maybe a year, but I'm still listed in ldstools, Facebook etc, so if anyone has the need to get in touch there are ways to do it - we haven't been at home that day and they not only rang our doorbell like zombies were after them, but also from our neighbor (and friend) to get into the house. However the neighbor answered the door and these ladies introduced themselves as my friends (!) started to ask him about me, our family, how our daughter is doing, if he thinks that I am happy with my life, how husband is doing, if we are still living together (!).

When we were back home he told us about the obnoxious stalkingladies and was wondering why so cool and normal people like us know such intimidating persons "who are worse than Stasi" (he unfortunately knows stasi from his own experiences)

I'm not an out spoken person so it definitely puts me in an awkward spot especially if people come to our door. Luckily I'm busy enough with 2 jobs and full time school that I'm hardly ever home even if they were to try and come over! A couple years ago they tried coming over a couple times to my mother in laws house where I happened to be living and took the liberty of knocking down a bees nest that was by our front door because they thought they were being nice! I think they just didn't like that the bees were keeping them from knocking on our door lol.

Does it never occur to them that if we wanted to communicate with them or to attend church, we know where they are and would contact them of our own free will? All this culty stalky nosey behaviour is ridiculous.
