The church members refer a boiled frog over time in conversations. They would say that when a frog is being boiled in a pan, it might feel comfortable at a time but at last, it get boiled and cannot escape from it. It's like the temptation from Satan.
Being a church member is the same thing. Most church members would say, "Even though so and so happened to her, she was so faithful that she kept going to church and that made a legacy to my family." I found the falseness of the existence of the church and staying in the church is just like this "boiled frog." It may feel comfortable to stay at church and the church would say, "as you leave the church, you would not go back to HF's presence". We are threatened over time and they stop us from getting out of the pan. It's better to get out of the pan!!
