It seems to me that people use the word "amazing" to describe almost anything these days.Mormons seem to use this word at a rate much higher than than non Mormons .When describing anyone in the ward then that person is amazzzzzing . Testimony meeting well of course it was amazzzing . I would be amazed if the that word was not used in describing anything and everyone. The next time I hear someone say their lunch was "amazing" it will take all of my will power not to slug them in the throat

Haha I like your style jimbo you make a good point as I go through my memories they do say that word a lot. I used to say if anybody said TBM to my face in the real world I'd punch them in the face so I know where you are coming from.

Personally I've always preferred "groovy."

Where I worked, everyone was using "amazing". I'm still trying to detox from this word. It's amazing how how it sticks with you :-D

Nothing ceases to amaze me in ldsCULTure.

Mormons have been known to have limited vocabularies. The "church" takes much more than only their time and money and thoughts and imaginations... but also their vocabulary, not to mention spirituality, morality, sleep...

P.P.S. - But yes, mormonite terminology is lame, inaccurate, lazy and leaves much to be desired. It's pretty sad but goes along with the territory.

The awesomeness of these truly amazing responses leaves me tickled pink; they are so spot-on amazing! I don't want to punch anyone, anywhere for any amazing reason! :)

I don't hear amazing so much by TBMs. I do hear "super" and "awesome" though. "This is super-cute!" "Wow, that is so awesome!" The worst- "super-awesome!" Gag. So lame.

A strong competitor to "amazing" is "awesome."

That word appeared at least five times in every weekly e-mail from my missionary grandson.

But it's not just Mormons - I have come across three people here in my town who say "awesome" at every opportunity:

"How are you today?" "Awesome!"

"What about this weather?" "Awesome!"

"See you later!" "Awesome!"

Back in the late 60s and early 70s it was "fanTAStic" with extra
accent on the second syllable.
